Job description
This role is a hybrid Test Engineering Lead position requiring both strong automation expertise and a willingness to perform manual testing (approximately 40% of the workload). The engineer will lead a scrum team of 2-3 Test Engineers, drive test strategy for complex, highly integrated systems, and ensure high-quality delivery for Guidewire Policy Center initiatives. This position is fully remote, supports core hours of 9am-3pm PST, and is structured as a 6-month contract with potential to extend or convert.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent experience.
5+ years of experience in both manual and automated testing (must be willing to perform manual testing ~40%).
Experience leading engineers
Experience testing complex systems with multiple integrations and end-to-end workflows.
Expertise in test methodologies, scalable testing practices, and automation-first approaches.
Advanced API testing skills (Postman, SoapUI, custom scripts).
Strong automation scripting skills (Selenium, TestNG, or similar).
Ability to analyze complex requirements and independently define testing approaches.
Expertise in defect tracking, documentation, and trend analysis.
Ability to manage multiple large testing projects and coordinate across teams.
Excellent collaboration and communication skills, including leading technical discussions. Guidewire Policy Center testing experience.
Experience leading a scrum team of Test Engineers.
Deep domain knowledge enabling strategy development and SME-level guidance.
Experience driving organization-wide testing strategies, standards, and policies.
Prior experience influencing testing direction and integrating emerging tools/technologies.
