Job description

Indigenous Pact is seeking a talented and experienced Data Platform & Analytics Engineer who is passionate about building scalable data solutions and transforming complex data into trusted, actionable information. The Data Platform & Analytics Engineer designs, builds, operates, and continuously improves the organization’s data platform and analytics infrastructure. This role develops and maintains data pipelines, integrations, Azure Databricks solutions, data models, and analytics-ready datasets that enable reporting, business intelligence, and data-driven decision-making. The role also administers platform security, operations, and governance.

Serving as a bridge between application development and business intelligence, the Data Platform & Analytics Engineer ensures that data is trusted, accessible, secure, and scalable for enterprise use. The role collaborates closely with Full Stack Developers, BI Analysts, and business stakeholders to create reliable data products that support operational excellence, strategic planning, and organizational growth.

Essential Job Functions

  • Design, develop, and maintain data pipelines, integrations, and automated data workflows
  • Build and support data lake, data warehouse, Databricks, and analytics platform solutions
  • Develop, optimize, and maintain ETL/ELT processes to ingest, transform, and organize data from internal and external systems
  • Create and maintain analytics-ready datasets, semantic models, and data structures optimized for Power BI consumption, in collaboration with BI Analysts on semantic model design
  • Develop and maintain data transformation workflows using SQL, Python, Databricks, and other modern data platform tools
  • Own operational health of the data platform, including monitoring, alerting, incident response, and continuous reliability improvements
  • Implement data validation, testing, reconciliation, and monitoring processes to ensure data accuracy and integrity
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, data dictionaries, lineage documentation, and operational procedures
  • Collaborate with application developers, BI analysts, and business stakeholders to define data requirements and deliver data solutions
  • Establish and promote data engineering standards, best practices, and governance processes
  • Evaluate and recommend improvements to data architecture, tools, processes, and technologies
  • Administer database and data platform security, including access management, role-based permissions, and auditing of data access
  • Ensure data solutions comply with privacy, regulatory, and data governance requirements
  • Manage database and platform operations including backup, recovery, disaster recovery planning, and environment management
  • Monitor and optimize platform compute utilization and cost, including Databricks cluster configuration and workload efficiency
  • Implement data retention, archival, and cataloging policies
  • Participate in solution design, architecture reviews, and strategic data initiatives

Requirements

Technical Skills

  • Advanced SQL development and performance tuning
  • Strong understanding of relational databases, data warehousing, and dimensional modeling
  • Experience designing and supporting ETL/ELT pipelines and data integration solutions
  • Experience with cloud-based data platforms (Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud)
  • Experience with Azure Databricks, Apache Spark, or similar large-scale data processing platforms
  • Proficiency in Python or similar scripting language used for automation and data processing
  • Experience with API integrations, data exchange, and system interoperability
  • Knowledge of source control and software development practices (Git, CI/CD, DevOps)
  • Experience implementing data quality, testing, monitoring, and observability practices
  • Experience with database administration functions, including security administration, performance monitoring, capacity planning, and backup/recovery
  • Experience designing datasets that support Power BI or similar enterprise BI platforms
  • Experience with data orchestration and workflow scheduling tools (e.g., Databricks Workflows, Azure Data Factory)

  • Understanding of business intelligence and analytics concepts
  • Ability to design analytics-ready datasets and reusable data assets
  • Ability to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving capabilities

Interpersonal Skills

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical audiences
  • Strong collaboration and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently in a fast-paced environment, * Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, Engineering, or a related field; equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
  • 5+ years of experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, data platform engineering, or a related technical role
  • Experience building and supporting enterprise data platforms, data warehouses, or analytics environments
  • Experience developing production data pipelines and integration solutions
  • Experience supporting reporting, business intelligence, and analytics initiatives
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams including software development, analytics, and business stakeholders
  • Experience with healthcare data and HIPAA-regulated environments
  • Preferred: Relevant cloud, data, or analytics certifications
  • Preferred: Experience with interoperability standards (HL7, FHIR)
