Job description

Job Summary: The Software Scientist III develops, maintains, and extends software components and features for a variety of products. Writes well designed, testable, and efficient software. Provides and coordinates training for lower level software scientists. Conducts code reviews, documents design and implementation of Agile methodologies to ensure high-quality software.

Requirements

Required Minimum Qualifications: Master’s degree and two (2) years of software development experience; OR bachelor’s degree and four (4) years of software development experience; OR associate’s degree and six (6) years of IT experience to include four (4) years of software development; OR high school diploma or GED and eight (8) years of IT experience to include four (4) years of software development., Skills and Knowledge: Advanced software engineering principles; Systems architecture and integration; Object-oriented programming; Software lifecycle management; Database design and management; API development and systems integration; Research computing environments; Artificial intelligence and machine learning applications; Simulation technologies; Sensor integration and data acquisition systems; Version control systems (Git); Cloud and local computing environments; Technical documentation; Project management; Leadership and personnel supervision; Excellent written and verbal communication skills; Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to multidisciplinary audiences., Preferred Qualifications: Experience supporting federally sponsored research; Experience with simulation technologies, eye tracking, human-machine interaction, autonomous systems, or transportation research. Experience with Unreal Engine, Python, C#, C++, MATLAB, SQL, or similar development environments. Experience developing research software for interdisciplinary scientific applications. Experience supervising engineering or software development teams.
