Job description

BEPC Inc. is seeking an experienced Sr. Systems Engineer to support a leading aerospace client in Phoenix, Arizona. This role is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the IBM Engineering Lifecycle Management (ELM/Jazz) platform to support safety-critical aerospace programs and drive Digital Thread initiatives.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience integrating engineering systems, managing requirements-based engineering (RBE) workflows, and ensuring end-to-end traceability across software, hardware, manufacturing, and systems engineering environments. This individual will serve as the technical architect connecting systems engineering data with enterprise engineering processes while ensuring compliance with aerospace regulatory standards.

Key ResponsibilitiesDigital Thread & Enterprise Integration

  • Design, implement, and maintain integrations between IBM ELM and enterprise platforms including PLM, CAD, ERP, and MES systems.
  • Build linked data pipelines using OSLC (Open Services for Lifecycle Collaboration), REST APIs, and IBM Engineering Lifecycle Optimization Integration Adapter.
  • Develop data federation and synchronization strategies to establish a single source of truth throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Create automated configuration management links between systems engineering data and product structures, including As-Designed and As-Built Bills of Materials (BOMs).

ARP4754 Compliance & Safety Management

  • Configure IBM ELM workflows to support ARP4754 aerospace development guidelines.
  • Track Development Assurance Levels (DAL A through E) across system architecture.
  • Develop automated traceability reports and verification matrices to support audits and Stage of Involvement (SOI) reviews.

IBM ELM Platform Administration

  • Serve as the primary administrator for the IBM ELM Suite, including:
  • DOORS Next Generation
  • Engineering Workflow Management (EWM)
  • Engineering Test Management (ETM)
  • Rhapsody
  • Global Configuration Management (GCM)
  • Jazz Team Server (JTS)
  • Configure project areas, workflows, permissions, and user access.
  • Monitor platform performance and troubleshoot system issues to maintain high availability.

Workflow Management & Compliance

  • Collaborate with Quality Assurance teams to align Engineering Test Management (ETM) with Requirements-Based Engineering (RBE) processes.
  • Manage change requests, defect tracking, and Agile sprint planning using Engineering Workflow Management (EWM).
  • Ensure engineering data complies with applicable regulatory and industry standards, including:
  • ARP4754
  • DO-178C
  • DO-254

Automation & Reporting

  • Develop automation scripts, plugins, and system integrations using REST APIs, OSLC, JavaScript, and Python.
  • Design and maintain automated reporting dashboards using IBM Engineering Lifecycle Optimization and BIRT reporting tools.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in:
  • Aerospace Engineering
  • Systems Engineering
  • Computer Science
  • Or a related technical discipline

Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years supporting software or systems engineering tools.
  • Proven experience integrating IBM ELM with enterprise PLM platforms such as:
  • Siemens Teamcenter
  • PTC Windchill
  • Dassault 3DEXPERIENCE
  • Strong experience supporting Digital Thread initiatives.

Technical Expertise

  • Extensive hands-on experience with the IBM ELM ecosystem.
  • Experience with Requirements-Based Engineering (RBE).
  • Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE).
  • Strong knowledge of OSLC integrations and REST APIs.
  • Experience developing automation using JavaScript and Python.
  • IBM Certified Specialist certifications are highly preferred.

Aerospace Knowledge

  • Experience working within ARP4754A/B development frameworks.
  • Working knowledge of:
  • DO-178C
  • DO-254
  • Familiarity with safety-critical aerospace development environments.

Methodologies

Experience working within:

  • Agile
  • SAFe
  • Waterfall
  • Safety-Critical Lifecycle Management

Soft Skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong documentation and technical writing abilities.

    1. Describe your experience creating enterprise dashboards using ELM, Power BI, Tableau, or similar.
