Job description

At Capital One, data is at the center of everything we do. When we launched as a startup we disrupted the credit card industry by individually personalizing every credit card offer using statistical modeling and the relational database, cutting edge technology in 1988! Fast-forward a few years, and this little innovation and our passion for data has skyrocketed us to a Fortune 200 company and a leader in the world of data-driven decision-making.

At the Discover Global Payment Network, data is the engine that powers our core platforms and products. As a Senior Manager, Data Analysis within the Platform Operations Tower, you will be the technical architect and strategic leader responsible for helping transform massive, high-volume transactional data streams into core analytical assets.

Operating alongside our Senior Managers of Business Analysis, you will own data strategy, architecture, and modeling frameworks for core network platforms, value-added services, and servicing portals. You will establish the technical roadmap for monitoring and anomaly detection, optimize complex backend operational data schemas, and serve as a technical interface with the Central Data & Governance teams.

On a given day you will be:

  • Refining the analytical assets and core monitoring framework across the Network Platforms and Products (NPP) tower.
  • Planning and executing data architecture and automated platform monitoring projects.
  • Assessing the quality, scalability, and performance of real-time transactional data logs (e.g., auth, settlement, and portal logs) and the nature of their usage across product domains.
  • Understanding complex technical issues and gaps in network data and proactively assessing data-driven risks, anomalies, and operational optimization opportunities.
  • Communicating technical results and data trends clearly and concisely both verbally and through written communications via operational reports, dashboards, and executive presentations.
  • Partnering with the Central Global Analytics team to align local NPP data assets with enterprise data strategy, cloud infrastructure, and global governance mandates.
  • Coaching and mentoring technical staff, setting high engineering standards for data utilization across the team.
