As a Software Engineer Lead within PNC’s Technology organization, you will be based in Pittsburgh, PA, Strongsville, OH, Cleveland, OH, Dallas, TX, Phoenix, AZ, Denver, CO, or Birmingham, AL.

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Mainframe COBOL Developer to join our technology team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the design, development, testing, and implementation of COBOL-based applications on our mainframe systems. This role involves working with complex business logic and ensuring the stability and performance of mission-critical applications.

Responsibilities:

Design, develop, and maintain mainframe applications using COBOL, JCL, DB2, CICS and VSAM.

Analyze business requirements and translate them into technical specifications.

Perform system analysis, coding, testing, debugging, and documentation of mainframe applications.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including business analysts and project managers, to deliver high-quality software solutions.

Troubleshoot and resolve production issues related to mainframe applications.

Participate in code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices.

Stay current with emerging trends and technologies in mainframe development., * Creates and leads the technical design and development of software solutions.

  • Proposes & designs software solutions to address complex business needs. Prepares technical and procedural documentation required.
  • Facilitates complex problem resolution.
  • Provides technical guidance and support to colleagues. Reviews coding, testing, and documentation of software.
  • Applies modern principles, methodologies and tools to advance business initiatives and capabilities.

Requirements

Operating systems: IBM z/OS, AIX, Linux (Red Hat), Windows,

Mainframe: COBOL, CICS, DB2, JCL, VSAM, TSO/ISPF, Easytrieve, Endevor , CA7, Control M, BMC AMI DevX Code Pipeline

Relational databases: DB2, Oracle

Following skills are a plus:

Experience with Fiserv’s PEP+ ACH system

API development experience , including but not limited to using Z/OS Connect

Experience in financial services or insurance industry, Successful candidates must demonstrate appropriate knowledge, skills, and abilities for a role.
