Job description

About the Position: This position is located at 673rd Medical Group, Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska.

  • This is a Direct Hire Solicitation.

  • Federal employees in Alaska are currently entitled to receive a 1.49% Cost of Living Allowance (COLA) in addition to the base salary. This is subject to change., * Serve as a subject matter expert and administrator responsible for organizing and facilitating the Credentials Program.
  • Enter information on all privileged providers into a Healthcare System and ensure accuracy and completeness of all data entries related to credentials files and automated credentials databases.
  • Maintain the security, integrity, and confidentiality of all related credentials files.
  • Ensure that quality assurance findings, risk management evaluations and malpractice claim actions sent to the Privileging Authority are appropriate regarding individual provider clinical privileges.
  • Review all incoming Provider Credentials Files (PCFs) and their applications for medical staff membership and clinical privileges.
  • Conduct Primary Source Verification (PSV) of the authenticity of the documents provided to include qualifying degrees, diplomas, discipline specific certificates, specialty board and fellowship certificates, registrations, and certifications.
  • Provide recommendations to the medical staff based on analysis of data received from licensing agencies and National Practitioner’s Data Bank.
  • Serve as the authoritative source for the Credentials Committee and assist with development and annual review of delineated clinical privileging documents for each category of clinical provider., * This position requires a 1 year probationary period during which the agency evaluates your fitness and whether your continued employment advances the public interest. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes entering information into an automated credentials database; reviewing incoming provider credentials files and their applications for clinical privileges; and utilizing a computer to maintain information on items such as databases, spreadsheets, ad hoc reports, documents, graphs and briefing slides. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). OR Education: Master’s or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree with a major study in hospital administration, public health administration, or related fields such as business or public administration with course work in health care administration. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages., FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
