Job description

  • Establish and run a recurring AI Technical Exchange Meeting (TEM) that keeps active work visible, aligns teams, resolves dependencies, and drives decisions rather than simply collecting status updates
  • Build and maintain an enterprise view of NGA AI efforts across stages of maturity, from early concepts and pilots to operational capabilities and planned investments
  • Create shared evaluation criteria and recommend which efforts should be sustained, accelerated, combined, reused, redirected, or concluded based on mission value, maturity, cost, risk, and adoption
  • Define and maintain the boundary between AI applications and the underlying enterprise infrastructure owned by other teams; coordinate across that boundary so responsibilities, dependencies, and integration paths remain clear
  • Establish shared APIs, interface definitions, reusable integration patterns, technical specifications, and standards that reduce reinvention across teams
  • Guide and report on AI capabilities in operational use, including deployment status, adoption, mission outcomes, performance, sustainment needs, and risk
  • Maintain a coherent portfolio view for NGA leadership while building trusted relationships across mission, engineering, acquisition, security, data, platform, and governance stakeholders

Serve as a trusted technical integrator and lead through influence rather than formal control. Use technical credibility and relationships to protect productive experimentation while creating enough shared structure for interoperability, reuse, investment decisions, and accountable operational delivery. Keep the portfolio grounded in what AI is delivering for GEOINT users and mission partners.

Requirements

  • Deep technical fluency in AI/ML and modern software systems, including AI application architectures, APIs, integration interfaces, reusable services, cloud architectures, DevSecOps practices, and the boundary between application logic and infrastructure
  • Experience leading or governing a portfolio of AI, analytics, software, data, or emerging-technology efforts across multiple teams or organizations
  • Ability to evaluate AI initiatives using consistent measures of mission value, technical maturity, cost, risk, operational performance, adoption, and sustainment
  • Demonstrated strategic judgment in prioritizing investments and recommending when efforts should advance, combine, change direction, or conclude
  • Proven ability to build trust, facilitate technical exchange, brief senior leaders, and move work forward without direct authority
  • Active TS/SCI clearance and ability to work onsite at NGA Campus East in Springfield, Virginia, according to the customer’s required schedule

Desired Skills/Abilities:

  • Prior experience supporting NGA, including familiarity with NGA mission organizations, governance forums, acquisition and engineering stakeholders, and the operational GEOINT environment
  • Knowledge of GEOINT workflows and the National System for Geospatial Intelligence (NSG), including relationships among NGA, mission partners, and operational users
  • Familiarity with AI governance, responsible AI, model evaluation, data governance, cybersecurity, and deployment within secure cloud environments
  • Experience creating technology inventories, roadmaps, reference architectures, standards, scorecards, or executive portfolio reporting
  • Experience facilitating technical exchange or engineering review forums and transitioning AI capabilities into operational use, Bachelor’s degree in computer science, data science, engineering, information systems, intelligence studies, geospatial science, or a related field and 15+ years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. 7+ years of experience leading AI/ML, software engineering, enterprise architecture, technical integration, or emerging-technology portfolios in a complex multi-stakeholder environment. NGA experience is strongly preferred.
