Job description
The Department of Neurology is seeking a Statistician Intermediate to work with a highly productive team of investigators. The responsibilities of this position include developing analytic plans and conducting statistical analyses, employing data management skills and collaborating with a team of project investigators, data managers, and other analysts. The ideal candidate must be dynamic, creative, flexible, and detail-oriented with excellent communication and problem-solving skills., * Develop analytical plans and conduct statistical analyses using R, SAS, and other software as needed. Analyses may include but are not limited to linear and logistic regression, survival analysis, mixed models, propensity score methods, multiple imputation, and more advanced analysis techniques.
- Create tables, figures, and graphs for presentation and publication. Contribute to the analysis sections of grants and papers.
- Conduct power analyses and other analyses needed in relation to grant preparation.
- Assist in maintenance, updating, and compilation of a variety of complex linked databases, including longitudinal databases. Create new derived variables, run checks on existing data, and create de-identified datasets for data sharing.
- Assist with creation and maintenance of documentation for databases, including detailed descriptions of contents and created variables.
- Advise other team members and provide programming and data analysis support for trainees. Interact with investigators, data managers, students, and other analysts.
- Other duties as assigned., Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings. Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act. Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses.
Requirements
Masters degree in a recognized field of science that is directly related to the duties of the position. Experience as a data manager or data analyst in health or related areas (including the quantitative social sciences). Substantial experience with statistical software (SAS, R, or Stata) and with the management of large datasets required. Must be extremely attentive to detail, responsive, very well-organized, able to multitask, and work in a team. Opportunities to participate as co-author on manuscripts and acquire additional job-related training.
Desired Qualifications*
Master’s degree in Biostatistics or statistics preferred.
