Assistant Professor - Information Technology and Software Engineering

The new faculty member will be expected to teach a variety of undergraduate courses across all levels, including advanced web development, programming languages, object oriented programming, computer hardware and organization, database systems, data structures and algorithms, systems analysis and design, and software engineering with the capacity to support the learning of multiple programming languages including Java, C/C++ and Rust., The new faculty member will be expected to teach a variety of undergraduate courses across all levels, including advanced web development, programming languages, object oriented programming, computer hardware and organization, database systems, data structures and algorithms, systems analysis and design, and software engineering with the capacity to support the learning of multiple programming languages including Java, C/C++ and Rust. Candidates with plans to involve undergraduate students in research and publications are encouraged to apply. We also seek candidates with interest in developing internal and external collaborations.

In addition to teaching and research, faculty at VTSU are expected to participate in and contribute to university committees, scholarship and professional development, student advising, service to the college community, development of curriculum and educational facilities as needed, and other duties related to teaching effectiveness, scholarship, and service to the university community.

The successful candidate will have earned either a Ph.D. (preferred) or M.S. in computer science or related areas and should have previous teaching experience at the undergraduate level. Candidates with experience teaching in a variety of modalities (in-person, face-to-face-plus, asynchronous online) are encouraged to apply.
