Job description
We are seeking a Senior Cloud Architect to help shape the future of the customer’s enterprise data environment. In this role, you’ll provide both tactical and strategic direction across business intelligence, data quality, analytics, and data management by working as a core member of the customer’s Data Management Team. You’ll collaborate closely with analysts, technologists, and leadership to design data models, guide advanced analytics efforts, and develop the frameworks that power the customer’s enterprise data warehouse and emerging big-data capabilities. This position is ideal for someone who thrives at the intersection of data strategy, technical execution, and organizational influence. Someone who can translate complex data concepts into actionable solutions, drive standards, and help build the analytic environments that support the customer’s mission today and into the future.
Capabilities
- Provide tactical and strategic guidance in business intelligence, analytics, data mining, visualization, and data quality, serving as an integral member of the customer’s Data Management Team.
- Collaborate with IT, analytics, and product development staff to design and implement scripts, programs, databases, and analytical components that enhance product quality and expand the organization’s understanding of data use cases.
- Serve as a thought leader in advanced data techniques, including data modeling, data access, data integration, data visualization, text mining, data discovery, statistical methods, and database design.
- Shape and execute the enterprise data strategy, contributing to data modeling, implementation, and data management efforts for the customer’s enterprise data warehouse and advanced analytics platforms.
- Gather requirements and build consensus across divisions, evaluating vendors, tools, and technologies, and delivering solutions, documentation, and training that support organizational data needs.
- Establish standards and guidelines for the design, development, tuning, deployment, and maintenance of analytical models and data persistence technologies.
- Lead the development of analytic environments for structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data, supporting rapid prototyping and research and development for new analytic capabilities.
- Communicate findings clearly and effectively, providing verbal, written, and visual insights to both technical and non-technical stakeholders across client location.
- Design data warehouse schema and define ETL/ELT processes by working closely with staff to understand business requirements and operational workflows.
- Apply advanced analytical methods, including statistical analysis, data mining, and the use of computational tools such as SAS, R, or SPSS.
- Maintain awareness of key business intelligence trends, This position is not expected to require regular travel; however, occasional travel may be required at the direction of the customer.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Industrial Engineering, or a closely related technical field.
- Must possess and maintain a current IAT Level III certification (CASP+, CISSP, or CISA, CCSP, CCNP Security, GCED, or GCIH)
- Advanced degree in Applied Mathematics, Business Analytics, Statistics, Machine Learning, Computer Science or related fields preferred
- Minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible experience in a directly related data, analytics, or enterprise information management role, with clear evidence of professional and leadership capability.
- Experience guiding enterprise data and analytics platforms, including providing direction on Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW tools, technologies, and best practices.
- Extensive expertise in enterprise database environments, including Oracle, SQL Server, or MySQL, with strong capability in both logical and physical data modeling.
- Proficiency in multidimensional data modeling, including normalized and de-normalized structures, star and snowflake schemas, and management of slow-changing dimensions.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess complex data challenges and deliver effective, scalable solutions.
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to present technical concepts clearly through verbal, written, and visual formats.
- Ability to work independently, set strategic objectives, and manage project plans, milestones, and deliverables with minimal oversight.
Preferred/Desired Qualifications
- Hands-on experience supported by training and certification in at least one cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
- Experience guiding enterprise data and analytics platforms, including providing direction on Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) tools, technologies, and best practices.
- Familiarity with project management, ITIL, and SDLC methodologies, ensuring disciplined execution and documentation.
- Hands-on experience with data warehouse and business intelligence systems, including gathering business requirements and translating them into data processes, schema designs, and scalable solutions.
- Strong working knowledge of relational SQL environments, including Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, or MySQL.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, including analysts, IT staff, and leadership, to align data strategy with mission needs.
- Experience supporting advanced analytics, including statistical analysis, data mining, and the use of tools such as SAS, R, or SPSS., Ability to perform light physical duties, including lifting, carrying, and moving computers, monitors, peripherals, and other small equipment as needed., * Bachelor’s degree required in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Industrial Engineering, or a closely related technical field.
