The State of Maine Office of Information Technology (OIT) is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Information Technology Consultant to lead critical enterprise services including Enterprise Storage, Enterprise Backup, Enterprise Document Management, Secure File Transfer, and related infrastructure platforms. In this pivotal leadership role, you will shape strategy, ensure operational reliability, and guide the ongoing evolution of the systems that safeguard and enable essential information across State government.

WHAT WILL YOU DO?
- Provide technical and strategic leadership for enterprise storage, backup services, cloud-integrated storage solutions, document management platforms, and secure file transfer services.
- Oversee cloud infrastructure design, management, monitoring, and cost optimization (Azure, AWS, cloud billing).
- Lead enterprise administration efforts across Windows Server, Linux based storage appliances, Microsoft 365, VMware, directory services, and related technologies.
- Supervise and mentor a team of technical professionals within the Computing Infrastructure & Services (CIS) group.
- Ensure high availability and reliability of enterprise platforms through proactive planning, lifecycle management, and continuous improvement.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to support enterprise applications and deliver integrated infrastructure services to agencies.
- Participate in the CIS 24x7 On-Call rotation and provide escalation support for critical systems.
- Collaborate with leadership on service roadmaps, modernization initiatives, and alignment with statewide IT strategies.

- Enterprise document management platforms
- Secure file transfer technologies (SFTP)
- Microsoft 365 administration
- Windows Server administration
- Linux-based storage appliances administration
- Cloud architecture, administration, billing, and monitoring (Azure, AWS)
- Virtualization technologies, including VMware administration and support
- Knowledge of information security best practices, including proper handling of sensitive data (PII, PHI, etc.)
- Knowledge of technical security best practices
- Knowledge of information services/automation technologies and capabilities
- Understanding of proper data security and backup procedures
- Strong leadership ability to supervise, coach, and develop technical staff
- Required experience supervising a technical team
- Experience managing workload using ticketing systems for prioritization and daily operations
- Experience with budgeting
- Experience resolving complex technical issues and implementing new solutions
- Ability to troubleshoot and solve complex technical problems
- Ability to understand and contribute to functional requirements and translate them into technical designs and development projects
- Ability to clearly communicate with diverse technical and business stakeholders
- Ability to document features, technical specifications, and infrastructure requirements
- Demonstrated ability to work under limited supervision in a fast-paced enterprise environment
- Proven success partnering with diverse stakeholders, driving improvements, and delivering highly reliable infrastructure services
- Ability to balance multiple projects in an agile environment
- Ability to perform physical tasks requiring lifting or exertion, as needed
- Ability to continuously monitor industry trends, research emerging technologies, and recommend/apply improvements, A minimum of 10 years of a combination of related post-secondary education, technical certifications, or technology related work experience. Related training, internship experience etc. may be credited as related experience on a month-per-month basis.
Preference will be given to applicants who have:
- Enterprise Storage experience
- Enterprise backup and recovery systems experience
