Job description

We’re hiring an AWS EKS Engineer for a leading company in the healthcare and insurance industry. This is a 6-month W-2 contract supporting a large-scale cloud modernization initiative. The role is primarily remote with periodic travel to Jacksonville, FL, making it an excellent opportunity for candidates located throughout the Southeastern U.S.

You’ll play a key role in migrating enterprise applications from on-prem OpenShift to AWS EKS, helping establish a scalable Kubernetes platform that will support multiple future cloud migration projects.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead and support migrations from OpenShift to AWS EKS
  • Deploy, manage, and troubleshoot production Amazon EKS clusters
  • Manage container images and repositories using Amazon ECR
  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins and Argo CD
  • Partner with development teams to migrate and optimize containerized applications
  • Monitor, secure, and optimize Kubernetes environments
  • Create migration documentation, automation, and operational runbooks
  • Support ongoing platform reliability, scalability, and performance

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience with Kubernetes or container orchestration platforms
  • Hands-on experience managing Amazon EKS in production
  • Strong experience with Amazon ECR
  • Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins and Argo CD
  • Proven experience migrating applications from OpenShift or other on-prem container platforms to AWS
  • Strong operational experience with monitoring, troubleshooting, and incident response
  • Solid AWS knowledge including VPC, IAM, CloudWatch, and networking
  • Experience working with infrastructure as code (Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar)

Preferred Qualifications

  • OpenShift administration experience
  • Helm, Prometheus, Grafana, or Kustomize
  • AWS Certifications (Solutions Architect, DevOps Engineer, CKA)
  • Experience developing migration automation and repeatable deployment processes, If you’re an experienced Kubernetes engineer with a strong AWS background and have successfully migrated workloads from on-prem environments to EKS, we’d love to hear from you.
