Job description

  • Manage incident response for cybersecurity and data privacy incidents.
  • Lead client and carrier communications, overseeing breach response work by associates.
  • Interact with senior management and technical personnel at client companies.
  • Analyze state, federal, and international privacy laws.
  • Draft legal notices of data breaches to individuals and regulators.
  • Respond to regulatory investigations arising from data breaches.
  • Defend privacy lawsuits.
  • Draft privacy and security policies and procedures under HIPAA, GLBA, CCPA, and other statutes.
  • Advise clients on handling cybersecurity incidents from start to finish.
  • Oversee forensic investigations and third-party vendors for e-Discovery and data mining.
  • Draft breach notification letters to individuals and state/federal regulators.
  • Prepare crisis communications for clients.
  • Respond to inquiries and investigations by state/federal regulators.
  • Interface with clients and draft reports to insurance carriers and clients.
  • Prepare legal budgets and supervise junior team members.

Requirements

  • JD from an accredited law school is required.
  • Must be admitted to the Bar in good standing.
  • 8+ years of legal experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in data privacy and security, focusing on data breach and incident response.
  • Strong knowledge of data breach and privacy laws (HIPAA, GLBA, FERPA, CCPA, GDPR, etc.).
  • IT or technical background is a plus.
  • Some litigation experience is a plus.
  • Excellent research, writing, and communication skills (Lexis and Westlaw).
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Team player.

Education

  • JD from an accredited law school.
