Job description

Network Architect to lead the design, implementation, and optimization of complex enterprise network and voice systems. This role involves evaluating and resolving technical issues, setting performance standards, and providing strategic guidance to internal teams and clients. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in network infrastructure, security, and emerging technologies, with a strong background supporting secure government environments.

Skills and Requirements

SDWAN-centric design with experience with Cisco Catalyst Center.

Design, document, and implement scalable, secure, and high-performance network architectures (LAN, WAN, SD-WAN, cloud-based).

Monitor and troubleshoot network and voice systems using advanced tools and methodologies.

Provide technical consulting and training to clients and internal stakeholders.

Lead root cause analysis and develop contingency plans for network outages and hardware failures.

Collaborate with application developers, operations teams, and management to ensure seamless network integration.

Evaluate and recommend new technologies, including storage area networks and security enhancements.

Architect solutions within the operational limits of existing infrastructure.

Requirements

Cisco certifications: CCNA and CCIE.

Bachelor’s degree in Network Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

Minimum 14 years of experience in IT network engineering and architecture, including Tier III support and large-scale infrastructure design.

In-depth knowledge of Layer 2/3 networking, routing and switching protocols (e.g., BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, IPSEC, VPN, MPLS, VLANs).

Proficiency with Cisco routers, switches, and security appliances.

Strong background in network security: firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPNs, and zero-trust architectures.

Experience with secure voice systems (e.g., VoIP, TDM, red switch).

Familiarity with NIPRNET/SIPRNET standards and government IT environments.

Proven ability to develop and review engineering change orders and risk mitigation strategies.

Expertise in cabling standards and fiber/copper termination.

Understanding of emerging technologies such as SDN, IoT, and 5G. Experience with DNS and Infoblox.

Advanced certifications: CCNP, CCDP, JDCI, CCVP, AWS Advanced Networking, Azure Solutions Architect Expert.

Proficiency in automation and scripting (e.g., Python, Ansible).

Familiarity with network monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds, Nagios, NetFlow).

Knowledge of DoS environments, Foreign Affairs Handbooks (FAHs), and Foreign Affairs Manuals (FAMs).

Strong interpersonal and presentation skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams.
