Job description
The Shift Lead is a shift-based, front-line operations people leader who is responsible for delivering operational targets and leading teams up to 15 production associates and drives safety, quality, continuous improvement, performance management, associate development, team engagement and operating results., * Manage the operating teams of on average 15 associates on assigned shift
- Conversion of materials into quality products in a safe, secure and sanitary manner
- Implement changes in methods, equipment, systems and organization and give recommendations using a Continuous Improvement mindset
- Lead or participate in one or more MSE Pillars
- Collaborate with the the Area Leadership Team to create and execute the reliability strategy for area of responsibility
- Coach operators to build their functional and leadership capabilities
- Coordinate materials, staffing and resources to support line operation and changeovers.
- Manage associate relations: hiring, onboarding, training, retraining, development, measure performance, engagement and motivation.
- Repair and troubleshoot process/packaging equipment problems
- Proactively identify risks and opportunities as well as reactively lead on-shift incident resolution when operators require additional support.
Requirements
- High school diploma, GED or equivalent education
- 4+ years of experience in a technical manufacturing environment
- Experience and demonstrated capability in leading others
- Functional knowledge and understanding of HACCP concepts
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, etc), internet software, e-mail
Physical Requirements:
- Can perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Frequent lifting/carrying (10-50 lbs) and pushing/pulling (50-300 lbs)
- Frequent bending, stooping, twisting, handling, and gripping.
- Ability to work at elevated heights, climb stairs, lean over equipment, and operate in confined spaces.
- Ability to stand and work on feet for extended periods, with shifts lasting 12 hours
- Capable of working in hot, cold and wet conditions
- Proficient in understanding, communicating, reading, and writing in English.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Technical Degree or certifications (s)
- Previous direct people leadership experience
- Experience in plant sanitation practices and procedures.
- OSHA experience or certification

- Starting Pay: Based on experience starting at $33.36/hour+
- Shift Differential: $1.50/hour (3rd shift only)
