Job description

Textron Systems is seeking new and recent graduates to join our Sea Systems business area to develop solutions in support of our unmanned surface vehicles programs. Current focal areas include autonomous control, advanced payload integration, vision systems, and other emerging technologies to enhance our unmanned surface vehicle platforms’ capabilities.

Your day may include designing, simulating, constructing, and field-testing autonomous surface vehicles and their subsystems. Our goal is to deliver disruptive autonomy technologies that enhance our customers’ mission capabilities. We work on applied research and development initiatives as well as established programs, and leverage diversity of thought to improve Textron Systems’ lines of robotic products. We believe people should love what they do - in this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Developing solutions to routine technical problems of limited scope on both current and next generation technologies in support of our family of Surface Vehicle products

  • Performing software development of new products across all phases of the product lifecycle from concept development to lab and offsite integration and evaluation

  • Performing software development at component, subsystem and system level including embedded control systems and sensor/operator interface development

  • Working cohesively on a multi-functional team with exciting technologies and products

  • Providing offsite integration and test support

  • Other related duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in software engineering, computer science or related field with less than 2 years experience

  • Technical internship experience preferred

  • C/C or Java programming experience

  • Basic shell scripting experience

  • Network/Serial/CAN interface development experience is a plus

  • Knowledgeable of Object-Oriented Analysis (OOA)/Object-Oriented Design (OOD)

  • Comfortable working in Unix based development environments

  • Knowledge of basic configuration management principles

  • Exposure to frontend technologies including (but not limited to) CSS, JavaScript, TypeScript, REST API, databases (SQL or NoSQL), and web UI design is a plus

  • Traveling up to 20% of the time

The pay range should be used as a general guide only. Compensation is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

In compliance with the local pay transparency law, the pay range for this position is

96,000.00 - 96,000.00 per year.
