  • Obtain peripheral vascular access and assist with the management of vascular access devices in accordance with organizational policies and scope of practice.
  • Continuously monitor patient vital signs and clinical status throughout procedures and promptly recognize and escalate changes in patient condition.
  • Identify, respond to, and assist in managing procedure-related complications or adverse reactions under the direction of the supervising physician or registered nurse.
  • Collect, process, and handle blood components in accordance with established protocols, AABB standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of procedures, patient assessments, equipment maintenance, and clinical interventions within the Laboratory Information System (LIS) and Electronic Health Record (EHR).
  • Perform quality control and routine maintenance on apheresis equipment to ensure compliance with manufacturer recommendations and regulatory standards.
  • Maintain compliance with infection prevention practices, patient safety standards, and organizational policies.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, blood bank personnel, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care and procedural scheduling.
  • Assist with inventory management by maintaining adequate supplies, disposables, and equipment necessary for uninterrupted operations.
  • Support orientation, training, and mentoring of new staff members as assigned.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, competency assessments, continuing education, and departmental projects.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant work environment while supporting exceptional patient care.

This role might be for you if:

  • Clear, professional communication defines how you collaborate with physicians, nurses, laboratory professionals, and fellow caregivers.
  • Accuracy, attention to detail, and strong clinical judgment guide every patient interaction.
  • You remain organized and adaptable while managing multiple procedures in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
  • Patient safety, compassion, and exceptional clinical care are your highest priorities.
  • You enjoy working collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams to achieve outstanding patient outcomes.
  • Continuous learning, quality improvement, and staying current with advances in apheresis practice motivate you.
  • You take pride in maintaining the highest standards of quality, compliance, patient safety, and clinical excellence.
