Job description

At The Next Step Public Charter School (TNS), every assessment is more than a test-it’s a stepping stone toward a student’s future. We’re looking for a highly organized, bilingual Testing Administration & Support Specialist to help ensure our students have the tools, guidance, and support they need to succeed on their educational journey.

In this role, you’ll coordinate placement testing, manage GED testing processes, maintain accurate student assessment data, and provide exceptional support to students, faculty, and staff. Through English and Spanish GED preparation programs, English as a Second Language (ESL) courses, and comprehensive student support, we help learners achieve their educational, career, and personal goals.

What You’ll Do

Student Placement & Testing

  • Welcome and orient new students before placement testing.
  • Administer and proctor placement assessments for new and returning students.
  • Score and maintain placement testing records with accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Update student placement levels based on testing and promotion guidelines.
  • Support academic advising and student placement decisions.

GED Testing Coordination

  • Coordinate GED testing schedules and communicate updates to students and staff.
  • Conduct GED information sessions and assist students with account creation and registration.
  • Schedule and administer GED Ready assessments.
  • Register eligible students for Official GED testing.
  • Maintain GED records, score reports, and student testing documentation.
  • Accompany students to the DC GED Testing Center when needed.

Assessment Operations & Data Management

  • Maintain accurate testing records and departmental documentation.
  • Generate, analyze, and report assessment data to support instructional decision-making.
  • Manage assessment platforms and databases, including QuickBase and Google Workspace.
  • Organize testing materials, supplies, and secure testing environments.
  • Support continuous improvement of testing processes and workflows.
  • Train staff on testing administration procedures as needed.

Testing Accommodations

  • Coordinate approved testing accommodations for eligible students.
  • Partner with the Special Education team and external testing agencies to ensure compliance.
  • Maintain confidential accommodation records.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 2-5 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish with strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to manage confidential information with professionalism and integrity.
  • Strong technology skills, including Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, Excel, and database systems.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Experience administering or proctoring standardized assessments.
  • Experience working in schools, adult education, or with diverse student populations.
  • Experience coordinating multiple projects and competing priorities.
  • Experience supporting multilingual adult learners.
