TELECOMMUNICATIONS SPECIALIST III - 71002718

This position is in the Cyber Crime Technology & Telecommunications division. This is a full-time position that provides technical support for FDLE’s telecommunications program. This position also works with closely regional telecommunication support team members to oversee the coordination of FDLE’s telecommunication resources., Specific duties include: Providing and coordinating overall management of FDLE’s statewide radio communications system; Maintaining responsibility for the performance and general maintenance of FDLE’s radio communications system and its associated equipment; Providing technical guidance to FDLE Command Staff concerning the 800 MHz State Law Enforcement Joint Task Force Technical Subcommittee; Providing consulting service to FDLE’s Command Staff for planning, budgeting and implementing telecommunication projects; Overseeing additions, deletions and modifications to FDLE’s communication tower and site leases; Locating and resolving interference and other problems with FDLE’s telecommunications system and associated equipment; Preparing correspondence for FDLE Command Staff in matters dealing with related communications; Obtaining and modifying Federal Communications Commission (FCC) licenses for FDLE transmitters and performs other duties as required; Performing administrative duties as assigned; and Providing technical support for requesting law enforcement agencies.

Knowledge of the principles, practices and techniques of telecommunication systems design; Knowledge of computer operations systems and procedures; Knowledge of telecommunications software and protocols; Knowledge of problem-solving techniques; Ability to prioritize workload; Ability to think logically and solve problems; Ability to plan, analyze and implement telecommunication system(s); Ability to design and integrate telecommunications systems; Ability to provide technical assistance related telecommunications systems; and Ability to develop various reports.

Starting salary will be at the minimum of the class pay range, unless otherwise dictated by FDLE’s pay policy. The elements of this selection process may include a work sample and/or interview. Future vacancies may be filled from this position advertisement.
