Job description
We are seeking an IC3 Software Development Engineer to help build and operate OCI Queue. You will work on customer-facing features and backend service components across queue management, message processing, service APIs, automation, monitoring, and production operations.
In this role, you will contribute to a highly available distributed service and gain deep experience in cloud infrastructure. You will work with experienced engineers to solve problems in scalability, reliability, latency, durability, fault tolerance, and operational excellence. You will have meaningful ownership of features from implementation through deployment and production support.
This role is a great fit for an engineer who enjoys backend systems, distributed systems, and cloud services. You should be excited to write reliable code, understand how services behave in production, improve existing systems, and deliver features that make OCI Queue easier, safer, and more reliable for customers.
- Build, test, deploy, and operate features for OCI Queue.
- Contribute to backend services, APIs, automation, and operational tooling.
- Improve message processing, queue lifecycle management, visibility timeout handling, batching, channels, and dead-letter queue capabilities.
- Work with senior engineers to design scalable and reliable distributed systems.
- Improve service performance, availability, observability, and maintainability.
- Participate in code reviews, design reviews, testing, and operational readiness reviews.
- Investigate production issues and implement durable fixes.
- Create and maintain dashboards, alerts, runbooks, and automation for service operations.
- Collaborate with product, engineering, SRE, security, and partner OCI teams.
- Deliver high-quality software that improves customer experience and service reliability.
Requirements
- Experience developing cloud-native applications or distributed services.
- Familiarity with messaging or streaming technologies such as Oracle Queue, Kafka, RabbitMQ, ActiveMQ, Pulsar, JMS, or similar messaging systems.

- Knowledge of cloud platforms such as Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Experience with monitoring and observability tools (metrics, logging, tracing, dashboards).
- Understanding of DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), or Infrastructure as Code concepts.
- Experience participating in on-call rotations and supporting production systems.
- Passion for building reliable, scalable cloud infrastructure that delivers an exceptional customer experience.
