Job description

As an Associate Software Developer, you will help improve operational efficiency and user experience by supporting Power Automate solutions and Back Office operational platforms. You’ll partner with business, operations, and technology teams to understand business needs, analyze processes, and develop automation, scripting, and integration solutions that streamline workflows and support business objectives. In this role, you’ll contribute to solution design, development, testing, documentation, and ongoing support while building your technical expertise in software engineering and process automation.

To join our dynamic team, we require candidates to be residents of WA, OR, ID, AZ, TX, GA, SC, NC, CA or VA. If you’re located in Washington state and within a reasonable driving distance from Tukwila, we are requesting that you come into our HQ on Tuesdays & Wednesdays. For those candidates that live outside the commute distance of TFC and in any of our approved remote work locations, this role will be remote. Remote or onsite, we are committed to ensuring you are fully engaged and included in our collaborative environment

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

  • Support Automation Platforms: Assist with the monitoring, troubleshooting, maintenance, and enhancement of Power Automate solutions and Back Office operational platforms under the guidance of senior team members.
  • Collaborate Across Teams: Partner with business, operations, and technology stakeholders to gather requirements, document solutions, and support the delivery of automation and platform enhancements.
  • Develop Technical Solutions: Create prototypes, proofs of concept, and technical solutions while building your understanding of software design concepts and software development lifecycle practices.
  • Analyze Business Requirements: Work with business partners and operational stakeholders to understand requirements and identify appropriate technology solutions to meet business needs.
  • Design, Build, and Maintain Applications: Perform system analysis, coding, testing, debugging, documentation, and support activities for automation solutions and operational platforms.
  • Drive Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve existing code, business processes, and system integrations, implementing solutions that enhance efficiency, reliability, and user experience.
  • Automate Business Processes: Develop and improve automation solutions that streamline workflows and support operational effectiveness.
  • Implement Integration Solutions: Analyze business processes and partner with subject matter experts to develop automation, scripting, and system integration solutions that improve operational efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Follow Development Standards: Adhere to departmental procedures, programming standards, compliance requirements, and all pertinent training materials.
  • Contribute Throughout the Development Lifecycle: Support solution design, development, testing, deployment, documentation, maintenance, and enhancements to help meet evolving business needs.

You’ll work closely with experienced professionals, gaining hands-on exposure to modern software development and automation practices while helping deliver solutions that support business objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related discipline required, or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum one year of experience designing software and writing production code in a team environment.
  • Experience in delivering solutions in multiple programming languages and technical environments.
  • Experience with .NET, C#, JavaScript/TypeScript, or Python.
  • Knowledge of Open Source (OSS) technologies.
  • Understanding of SOLID design principles, Object-Oriented Programming, and Design.
  • Experience using Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery tools.
  • Experience using Test Driven Development concepts, methods, and tools.
  • Experience with Git.
  • Understanding of data modeling concepts., * Exposure to coursework/training in Microsoft Azure, including cloud services, deployments, or automation.
  • Familiarity with workflow and process automation tools such as Power Automate, UiPath, or ServiceNow.
  • Basic experience in shell scripting (e.g., PowerShell).
  • Foundational understanding of infrastructure concepts such as networking, firewalls, virtual machines, and cloud environments.
  • Internship, academic project, or professional experience within a regulated industry such as financial services, healthcare, or insurance.
  • Exposure to 3rd party managed services and/or hosted systems with integrations to company-managed systems (e.g., via APIs, VPN connections, etc.).
  • Basic experience documenting business processes, identifying opportunities to streamline, capturing technical requirements, and designing technical solutions to automate them.

Benefits & conditions

The Target Pay Range for this position is $96,900.00-$118,400.00 annually. The full Pay Range is $75,300.00 - $140,100.00 annually. At BECU, compensation decisions are determined using factors such as relevant job-related skills, experience, and education or training. Should an offer for employment be made, we will consider individual qualifications. In addition to your salary, compensation incentives are available for the hired applicant. Incentives are performance based and targets vary by role.
