Job description

This position supports the production concessions of aircraft structure and is responsible for the creation of quality solutions in a timely manner from a design point of view. Duties include performing design efforts for both metallic and non-metallic parts while working in close collaboration with stress colleagues to provide solutions. Methods include the use of multiple applications to research aircraft configurations and develop efficient solutions to satisfy airworthiness requirements. The role involves ensuring the safety, efficiency, and regulatory compliance while adhering to the terms of the concession., Technical Solutions

  • Assess design deviations or non-conformances for metallic, composite and hybrid structures align for solutions for manufacturing to the aircraft definition.
  • Ensure appropriate Airbus methods, processes and procedures are followed.
  • Liaise with and support stakeholders such as Stress, Manufacturing, Quality and other Airbus departments as necessary to come up with optimum solutions and ensure Stress requirements are fully integrated.
  • Develop and maintain component / aircraft familiarity, to ensure prompt response to build.
  • Develop towards and maintain Technical Signature Delegation for non-conformances for primary and secondary aircraft structures (T200).
  • Develop design answer and create a drawing pack to support T200 and T300 completion.
  • Provide technical guidance to peers and develop design engineers/designers in the delegation process.
  • Ensure all tasks and activities required are executed to planned time scales.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Identify and support local improvement initiatives to increase team efficiency through process, methods and tools improvements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Engineering (Aero, Civil, Mechanical) with a strong curriculum emphasis on structural design and analysis and mechanics of materials.

Preferred Education

  • Master’s Degree in an Engineering discipline

Required Experience

  • Minimum six (6) years total experience in design/analysis with airframe structures

Preferred Experience

  • Experience in composite airframe structures
  • Concession experience

Travel Required

  • 5% Domestic and International, * Frequently uses widely known technical principles, theories, and concepts to solve technical problems.
  • Capable of working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment both independently and collectively.
  • Dependable, self-motivated and accessible.
  • Ability to perform work activity tasks in an organized manner with minimal direction once sufficient training has occurred.
  • Team player demonstrating a positive and collaborative attitude
  • Capable of creating and delivering technical documents and presentations without guidance
  • Strong computer background, including MS Excel and Google Suite application experience (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Gmail)
  • 3D Modeling Experience (CATIA or 3D experience preferred)

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Demonstrated Capabilities

  • Proven experience answering concessions, preferably on aerospace and Airbus components.
  • Working knowledge of Airbus Structures

  • Must be able to communicate effectively in English (verbal and written)
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to effectively interface with all levels of personnel and disciplines.
  • Effectively communicates issues, solutions, ideas, and status of current work internally and externally

Preferred Communication Skills (Spoken, Written, Influencing, Proficiency in Other Languages)

  • Conversational French and/or German
