MIS Data Assistant

To assist with the management of student data. Data is defined as all information pertaining to the records of special education students., * Collect, enter, and verify MIS data according to KS State Compliance

• Set-up IEP systems for student data at the beginning of every school year
• Assist with the review, maintenance, and storage of Individual Education Plans and accompanying paperwork
• Verify that student data matches in all relevant data bases (for example, CompuSPED, Infinite Campus, Skyward, Edulog, KIDS Assignment System and SPED Pro
• Manage student data when students are moving in to the Cooperative, moving out of the Cooperative, and moving within the Cooperative
• Export student data for Special Education reports due to KS State Compliance system
• Clear and fix all verifications associated with student data
• Compile data, summarize information, and provide written and/or oral reports to special education administrators
• Verify all data for Indicators through submittal of Individual Education Plans into state systems
• Understand and maintain a working knowledge of laws and regulations that pertain to confidentiality of student records, Family Education Rights & Privacy Act, and all procedures related to student information
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Special Education, Assistant Director of Special Education or Special Education Compliance Officer

• High School Diploma required (Associate’s of Arts or above preferred)
• Proficient using standard software programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and all Google Applications; email, district student enrollment software, Individual Education Program system (CompuSPED)
• Organized and detail-oriented with strong verbal and written communication skills
• Able to multi-task and problem solve
• Able to sort through data and find inconsistencies
• Excellent interpersonal skills and professional judgment

COMMUNICATION / ORGANIZATION : Maintains communication with school personnel, and parents/guardians to enhance cooperative action which will meet the educational needs of students.

Utilizes existing technology effectively in the performance of duties.

Performs other related work as required.

REASONING ABILITY : Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

LANGUAGE SKILLS : Ability to read and analyze and interpret general professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, general curriculum and learning theories, correspondence, and protocols. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of administrators, staff, parents, students, and the general public.
