Job description

Vista Innovative Solutions is seeking a Programmer Analyst III to add to our Information Technology Support Services team in support of the Army Sustainment Command (ASC) at the Rock Island Arsenal in Rock Island, Illinois

JOB DEFINITION: Customize/maintain client based application solutions, and develop/maintain database driven web applications. Candidate will be assigned various programming and automation tasks to be completed within specific timeframes. Communicate effectively with the Task Lead, senior team members, and customers regarding the status of tasks. Attention to detail, customer service oriented, and creative problem-solving capabilities required. Respond quickly and effectively to task requests that require a very short turn-around. Record time spent working on tasks in a custom task management system.

What You’ll Do:

  • Maintain existing ASP.NET Web Forms and Web API applications using Visual Studio
  • Maintain existing Angular.js and React applications using Visual Studio and VS Code
  • Update existing codebases without deviating from existing coding style
  • Read and write SQL for Oracle and SQL Server
  • Create and maintain developer-focused documentation for applications and libraries
  • Create and maintain automated tests using C# and XUnit
  • Create and maintain automated tests using JavaScript and Jest or Mocha
  • Submit pull requests using git and Microsoft Team Foundation Server
  • Work with package management systems such as NuGet and NPM/Yarn
  • Contribute to and learn from architecture/design discussions.
  • Contribute to and learn from team retrospective meetings.
  • Contribute to and learn from code review discussions.

Requirements

  • Ability to read and write idiomatic C#
  • Ability to read and write idiomatic HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
  • Ability to read and write VB.NET
  • Effectively use git source control
  • Take direction and work, independently or collaboratively as the situation demands
  • Respectfully discuss software functionality with users
  • Collaborate with users and other developers to model business processes
  • Ability to understand and adhere to data security/privacy requirements
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to disagree respectfully and focus on outcomes, * A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or equivalent AND two (2) years of programming experience; OR equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Experience must include significant work with application programming.
