Job description

The USAA Development Product Owner involves a combination of responsibilities related to product strategy, backlog management, collaboration, and ensuring the successful delivery of digital products within the agile framework.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Product Vision and Strategy: Understand the business strategy and vision for the Content Management System (CMS) transformation. This includes helping to define the product goals and how they align with USAA’’s overall objectives.
  • Backlog Management: Manage the development product backlog for the CMS transformation. This includes being the key business technical partner to help refine epics and features with the Digital Product Manager and technical leads. Guide the writing, refining, prioritizing, and estimating of user stories with the Scrum Master and development team. Ensure the backlog is well-defined with clear acceptance criteria for the development team.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Serve as one of the primary liaisons between business stakeholders and the agile development team. Facilitate communication and ensure alignment on requirements and priorities.
  • “Voice of the Business/Customer”: Represent the needs of the business and end-users (content creators, editors, consumers of content) throughout the product development lifecycle.
  • Agile Team Guidance: Work closely with the Scrum Master and development team to ensure they understand the product vision and backlog items. Participate actively in agile ceremonies (sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, retrospectives).
  • Acceptance and Validation: Review and accept the work delivered by the development team to ensure it meets the defined acceptance criteria and business requirements.
  • Data-Driven Decision Making: Utilize data and analytics to inform product decisions, identify areas for improvement, and measure the success of CMS transformation initiatives.
  • Risk Management: Identify and communicate potential risks and issues related to the CMS transformation and work with stakeholders to develop mitigation strategies.
  • Technical Understanding: Possess a good understanding of CMS technologies, platforms and their integration within a broader MarTech ecosystem.
  • Continuous Improvement: Foster a culture of continuous improvement within the agile team, seeking opportunities for learning and process enhancement.

Specific to CMS Transformation:

  • Platform Evolution: Drive the development and enhancement of the CMS platform, focusing on priorities that improve content authoring, management, delivery, and governance.
  • Integration: Ensure the CMS integrates seamlessly with other marketing technology (MarTech) tools and enterprise systems.
  • Workflow Optimization: Work to connect and optimize content workflows, from creation and approval to publishing and archiving.
  • Content Strategy Alignment: Ensure the CMS development supports USAA’’s broader content strategy and goals.
  • User Experience (UX) for Content Creators: Facilitate team goals for enhancing the user experience for individuals who create, manage, and publish content using the CMS.

Requirements

  • Must have existing knowledge of USAA specific processes and requirements of the DPO role
  • Must have located in PHX or Plano
  • Must have understanding of release management
  • Must have Kanban Agile methodology experience
  • Must have understanding of Adobe Experience Manager Cloud - author, publish,
  • Has understanding of APIs, AWS Gloo & Lamda development processes
  • Has understanding of content management system headless fragments, authoring, components, etc.
  • Has understanding of web development
  • Has understanding of Jira Cloud
  • Has understanding of Adobe Experience Manager Cloud
  • Has understanding of workflow tools
