Hybrid Remote - Oracle Database Engineer (TS/SCI)

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking an experienced Oracle Database Engineer to support the modernization of a mission-critical government information system. This role focuses on Oracle 19c database administration across both on-premises and AWS RDS environments, supporting database performance, security, migrations, disaster recovery, and enterprise application integrations. The ideal candidate will have extensive Oracle administration experience within secure government environments and a strong background supporting large-scale modernization initiatives. Work Environment:

• Hybrid role supporting a mission-critical federal modernization effort.
• 3 days on, 2 days remote.
• Candidates may work from Reston, VA, Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling (Washington, DC), or Annapolis Junction, MD, while collaborating with application, infrastructure, database, and security teams to modernize and sustain enterprise government systems.

Responsibilities:

• Administer, maintain, and optimize Oracle 19c databases in production environments.
• Design and implement database schemas supporting enterprise applications and reporting solutions.
• Perform database performance tuning, troubleshooting, and optimization activities.
• Manage Oracle patching, upgrades, and lifecycle maintenance.
• Develop and maintain backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies.
• Implement database security controls, hardening standards, and compliance requirements.
• Ensure database integrity, availability, and operational reliability.
• Support integration efforts with Java applications, SAP Business Intelligence environments, and Apache Solr indexing platforms.
• Assist with migration efforts from VMware/on-premises environments to AWS RDS.
• Deploy and manage database monitoring and operational support solutions.
• Troubleshoot production database issues and coordinate resolution efforts across infrastructure and application teams.

• 13+ years of experience in database engineering, database administration, or enterprise IT environments.
• Extensive experience administering Oracle 19c in production environments.
• Experience supporting both AWS RDS and on-premises Oracle deployments.
• Strong experience with database design, schema development, and implementation.
• Expertise in database performance tuning and optimization.
• Experience with backup, recovery, and disaster recovery planning.
• Strong understanding of Oracle security hardening and database compliance requirements.
• Experience supporting Java application and database integrations.
• Experience troubleshooting complex production database environments.
• Familiarity with federal compliance frameworks such as FISMA, FedRAMP, or similar.
• Strong documentation and technical communication skills.

Clearance Requirement:

• Active TS/SCI clearance required.

Preferred:

• Active TS/SCI with CI Polygraph.
