Job description
We are seeking an Engineering Manager to lead their growing Observability Platform team. This is a highly visible leadership role focused on defining observability strategy, driving platform modernization, and enabling engineering teams to operate reliable, scalable systems.
This leader will own the roadmap for enterprise observability while managing a distributed team across the U.S. and offshore resources.
What You’ll Be Leading:
Observability strategy, governance, and roadmap planning
Enterprise logging, metrics, tracing, and incident response capabilities
Modern observability tooling including Datadog, Coralogix, Splunk, OpenTelemetry, and similar platforms
Cloud-native observability across AWS (Azure/GCP experience also welcomed)
Platform adoption, operational excellence, and cost optimization initiatives
Requirements
Engineering management experience within Observability, SRE, DevOps, Platform Engineering, or Software Engineering organizations
Strong understanding of logs, metrics, traces, telemetry, and monitoring strategies
Experience with Prometheus and observability platforms such as New Relic, Dynatrace, Datadog, Splunk, Grafana, Coralogix, or similar solutions
Knowledge of OpenTelemetry and instrumentation best practices
Experience building observability solutions in AWS environments and ingesting telemetry from cloud services
Exposure to containers/Kubernetes and platform engineering concepts
Ability to influence strategy, build roadmaps, and effectively manage upward across multiple stakeholder groups
Nice-to-Have Experience:
AI Observability and telemetry for LLM applications
Monitoring and observability for OpenAI, Claude, and other AI-powered platforms
Developer enablement and platform modernization initiatives

This is a Permanent position based out of Raleigh, NC.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $169000.00 - $200000.00/yr.
