Job description

Provide Tier 1/2 technical support via phone, remote desktop, and onsite visits.

  • Perform desktop troubleshooting, hardware setups, software installations, and peripheral configurations.
  • Diagnose basic network, router, switch, firewall, and Wi-Fi connectivity issues on client sites.
  • Pick up required parts/hardware for onsite client assignments when needed (fully reimbursed).
  • Log, update, and manage support tickets with clear documentation in our help desk system.
  • Maintain professional customer communications and represent Vortex with integrity on client sites.

Requirements

Vortex Computer Systems provides managed IT services, network infrastructure, and help desk support to organizations across the Houston area. We are seeking a dependable, self-motivated Onsite/Remote IT Technician to support our growing client base with prompt, professional technical solutions., Required: High School Diploma or equivalent; valid driver’s license and reliable personal vehicle.

  • Preferred: 1+ years of experience in an IT Help Desk, Field Tech, or Managed Services (MSP) environment.
  • Preferred: CompTIA A+, Network+, or Microsoft certifications are a plus.

Technical Skills:

  • Windows 11 and macOS operating systems.
  • Microsoft 365 Admin Console, Google Workspace Admin, and MS Office Applications.
  • Hardware installation, PC troubleshooting, component replacement, and system deployment.
  • Basic networking concepts (IP addressing, DHCP, DNS, VLANs, subnets, routers, switches, and ISPs).

Personal Attributes:

  • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • High degree of self-management, punctuality, and professional integrity.

Equipment & Travel Requirements (Contractor Provided):

  • Reliable personal vehicle for travel to client sites within the greater Houston area.
  • Laptop or desktop computer (Windows 11 or modern macOS) with high-speed internet for remote work.
  • iOS or Android smartphone for field communications and ticketing access., * High school or equivalent (Preferred)

Experience:

  • Windows: 1 year (Preferred)
  • IT support: 1 year (Preferred)
