Job description

You lead the AI Engineering & Data Science team within Group Data & Analytics and help translate strategic business challenges into scalable, reliable, and impactful AI solutions. Working across production, supply chain, commercial, finance, HR, and other corporate functions, you drive initiatives that create measurable value throughout the organization.

This is a hands-on leadership role where you combine strategic thinking, technical expertise, and people leadership. You guide the team, define priorities and engineering standards, and help transform promising ideas into production-ready AI solutions with lasting business impact.

Function

  • You lead the AI Engineering & Data Science team and help build a high-performing organization with a culture of ownership, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • You shape and execute the AI roadmap, ensuring initiatives are aligned with business priorities and deliver measurable value within our overall digital transformation roadmap.
  • You translate strategic and operational challenges into scalable AI solutions across production, supply chain, commercial, finance, HR, and other business domains.
  • You take end-to-end responsibility for AI products, from discovery and solution design to deployment, adoption, monitoring, and continuous improvement.
  • You develop impactful AI solutions using technologies such as Generative AI, forecasting, optimization, computer vision, NLP, RAG, semantic search, and agentic workflows.
  • You work closely with senior stakeholders, challenging assumptions and helping them translate AI opportunities into tangible business outcomes.
  • You ensure engineering excellence through modern software engineering, MLOps, governance, security, and Responsible AI practices.
  • You coach, mentor, and inspire a team of Data Scientists, enabling them to grow and deliver high-quality solutions.
  • You stay hands on. You review code, prompts and evaluations, you pair on the hard retrieval or forecasting problem, and you build yourself when the team needs it. This is not a role that leads from a slide but from the frontline.

As AI Engineering & Data Science Lead, you will work within Group Data & Analytics, lead the AI Engineering & Data Science team and report to the Competence Center Lead Data & Analytics.

Requirements

  • You hold a Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Machine Learning, or a related field. Equivalent experience is equally valued.
  • You bring at least 8 years of experience in AI, Machine Learning, Data Science, or Software Engineering, including experience in leadership, technical lead, or delivery leadership role. You have a proven track record of translating complex business challenges into AI solutions that create measurable business impact.
  • You are a strong people leader who enjoys coaching, mentoring, and developing high-performing teams. You know how to align stakeholders, challenge assumptions, and guide decision-making at senior management level.
  • You combine deep technical expertise with a pragmatic, product-oriented mindset. You are comfortable moving initiatives from concept and experimentation to scalable, production-ready solutions that deliver lasting business value.
  • You have strong hands-on experience with Python, SQL, software engineering practices, cloud platforms (preferably Azure), Databricks, and MLOps. Experience with modern AI technologies such as Generative AI, RAG, semantic search, AI agents, NLP, forecasting, optimization, or computer vision is considered a strong asset.
  • You understand the importance of Responsible AI, governance, privacy, security, explainability, and model lifecycle management, and know how to embed these principles in an enterprise environment.

Benefits & conditions

  • You will join an international family-owned company with a strong long-term vision, where more than 5,700 passionate colleagues work together, driven by five core values.
  • You will become part of a growing Data & Analytics organization that is building a modern data platform, with plenty of opportunities for training, certification, and collaboration with strong business domains.
  • We invest in a positive and engaging work environment through a variety of sports activities and team events.
  • Every day, you can literally experience our passion through our fresh and innovative, high-quality products.
  • You will work on AI and data products that deliver tangible impact across our international value chain-from manufacturing and supply chain to commercial, finance, HR, procurement, and other corporate support functions.
  • You will help build a better world, with sustainability being a key priority throughout our company.
  • You will have every opportunity to grow and develop in a highly dynamic environment. Our LLBG Academy supports you in becoming the best version of yourself.
  • We offer an attractive compensation package, including one day of remote work per week, meal vouchers, hospitalization insurance, group insurance, a company car, and 10 additional vacation days on top of the statutory leave entitlement.
  • You will have the autonomy to take initiative, roll up your sleeves, and make a real difference.
