Job description

ACG is seeking a Project Manager to plan, coordinate, and oversee all phases of Outside Plant (OSP) telecommunications and construction projects, including fiber-optic builds, underground and aerial deployments, permitting, and field operations.

This role is responsible for ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with client requirements and industry standards. The ideal candidate brings strong leadership, hands-on OSP knowledge, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-moving environment.

What You Will Do

Project Planning, Scheduling & Execution

  • Manage day-to-day execution of OSP projects including fiber construction, trenching, boring, aerial work, and splicing
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, work plans, and resource allocations
  • Conduct onsite field visits to monitor safety, progress, and construction quality
  • Identify risks, delays, and conflicts and implement corrective actions
  • Ensure all work meets OSP standards, safety requirements, codes, and client specifications

Coordination, Communication & Stakeholder Management

  • Coordinate with engineers, field crews, subcontractors, and clients
  • Manage subcontractor performance and verify completed work
  • Communicate project status, risks, and updates to leadership
  • Oversee permitting processes with cities, utilities, and municipalities
  • Participate in internal and external coordination meetings

Technical Documentation, Permitting & Records

  • Review and interpret drawings, maps, engineering plans, and permits
  • Track materials, equipment, and procurement needs
  • Maintain accurate daily reports, schedules, and project documentation
  • Support as-built documentation, redlines, closeout packages, and inspections
  • Ensure construction and testing meet industry standards

Process Development & Continuous Improvement

  • Recommend improvements to workflows, documentation, and field coordination
  • Track project metrics, KPIs, and performance benchmarks
  • Support training, implementation, and follow-up for new or ongoing projects

Performance Expectations

First 30 Days

  • Learn ACG OSP workflows, documentation standards, and safety requirements
  • Demonstrate consistent communication, reporting, and follow-through
  • Support active projects under guidance while completing field visits
  • Establish accurate daily and weekly project reporting practices

Long-Term Growth Objectives

  • Independently manage multiple OSP projects
  • Improve scheduling accuracy, budgeting control, and field coordination
  • Strengthening subcontractor and client communication
  • Become a technical resource for OSP construction, permitting, and testing
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of company processes

Weekly & Monthly Deliverables

Daily / Weekly:

  • Maintain updated project schedules, notes, and field reports
  • Communication blockers, risks, and schedule changes
  • Submit weekly project updates to leadership
  • Ensure all documentation is accurate and current

Monthly:

  • KPI reviews (schedule, budget, safety, documentation accuracy)
  • Subcontractor performance and risk reviews
  • Submission of as-builts, reports, and improvement proposals

Requirements

Do you have a valid Driver’s License license?, Do you have experience in Underground utilities?, * 3+ years of OSP, telecom, or fiber-optic project management experience

  • Strong understanding of aerial and underground OSP construction
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and maps
  • Experience managing crews, subcontractors, or field operations
  • Knowledge of permitting and utility coordination
  • Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills
  • Proficiency with project management tools and Microsoft Office
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to job sites
