Job description

We are seeking a DevOps Engineer to stand up and integrate the cloud platform beneath a Department of Defense enterprise asset management modernization program. This role supports a U.S. Government customer and is fully remote within the continental United States.

You will provision Red Hat OpenShift across three environments in an accredited government cloud, install and configure the IBM Maximo Application Suite platform stack on it, and integrate the deployed solution with the hosting platform’s monitoring, logging, backup, patching, and security services. This is a front-loaded role. The platform gates every downstream application activity, and your work sets the pace for the program.

Key Responsibilities

In this role you will own the platform layer from onboarding through operational handover to the application team.

You will:

  • Participate in mission application onboarding to an accredited government cloud environment, coordinating the required artifacts and reviews.

  • Design the solution architecture covering network design, OpenShift topology, application suite topology, and storage.

  • Author the Architecture Design Document platform content, the Network Architecture, and the Backup Strategy.

  • Provision Red Hat OpenShift clusters for Development, Test, and Production, including remediation of platform security guardrails and hosting restrictions.

  • Configure OpenShift for the application suite across all three clusters, including storage classes, ingress and routes, certificates, and operator catalogs.

  • Apply tenant security hardening to the platform baseline across all environments.

  • Install and configure the Maximo Application Suite core platform across three environments, including the platform data store, license service, and certificates.

  • Provision and configure the integration messaging layer.

  • Deploy Maximo Manage and required components across all environments.

  • Integrate the deployed solution with platform monitoring, logging, backup, patching, and security services.

  • Configure backup and validate application-consistent restore across the full stack.

  • Author the Disaster Recovery Plan and execute tested recovery validation.

  • Produce as-built documentation and hand the operational platform over to the application team.

Requirements

  • Must have 6, or more, years of directly related experience in cloud platform engineering, DevSecOps, or Kubernetes platform administration.

  • Must have hands-on experience provisioning and operating Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform.

  • Must have experience with AWS, including deployment into a government or restricted cloud region.

  • Must have experience with infrastructure as code and automation tooling such as Terraform, Ansible, Helm, or Bash.

  • Must have experience installing or operating a containerized enterprise application platform, including operators, certificates, and persistent storage.

  • Must have experience with container hardening to Department of Defense compliance standards.

  • Must have experience configuring backup and validating restore for stateful workloads.

  • Must have a current DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification (for example Security+).

  • Must have an active DoD Secret Security Clearance.

  • Must be a U.S. citizen residing in the continental United States.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience deploying IBM Maximo Application Suite or another IBM Cloud Pak product on OpenShift.

  • Experience with MongoDB, Kafka, or SQL Server in a containerized or cloud environment.

  • Experience working within an accredited government cloud environment and its onboarding process.

  • Red Hat certification such as RHCE or OpenShift Administrator.

  • Experience supporting Risk Management Framework authorization activities as a technical contributor.
