Job description
Vultr is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Data Center Technician to keep our global fleet of GPU and CPU servers running at hyperscale performance while we expand into new edge regions worldwide.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on, self-driven professional with at least four years racking, cabling, debugging, and upgrading thousands of servers and switches in mission-critical colocation facilities, who can thrive under SLAs of 99.99%+ uptime and stay calm during incident response.
This high-impact role entails end-to-end deployment and care of GPU-dense, liquid-cooled infrastructure-rack-and-stacking, cabling, swift hardware triage, warranty coordination, spare-parts ownership, and rapid escalation-while operating non-stop in a 24×7 environment.

Key Responsibilities
- Installing and performing on-going maintenance on servers and network equipment. Including rack & stack of servers and switches, cabling, and physical configuration of devices.
- Responding to reported server, network, and infrastructure issues.
- Work with facility staff to ensure that power, cooling, and all other facility provided services are working properly; coordinate any maintenance, and ensure that any outages are addressed and escalated accordingly.
- Work through assigned tickets and work requests effectively, performs diagnosis and repairs to hardware. Replacement of server components such as CPU, memory, drives, motherboards, and network cables.
- Work with vendor warranty technicians to ensure that any warranty issues are resolved promptly and properly.
- Proactively identify issues and areas to approve efficiency and develop plans to resolve.
- Setup, maintain, and document spare parts inventory.
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams to improve deployment efficiency, automation, and monitoring.
- Escalating issues as needed to ensure prompt resolution by assisting system admins in debugging network, hardware, and Linux OS-related issues.
Requirements
- Experience working in a datacenter as a technician or similar role installing, configuring, and troubleshooting server and network equipment.
- Experience with large scale network and server deployments.
- Firm understanding of GPU hardware and liquid cooled rack solutions.
- Ability to work independently to manage projects within the facility.
- Firm understanding of servers, network equipment, and datacenter facility services like power, cooling, and cross connections to service providers.
- Experience with troubleshooting, building, repairing, and upgrading servers.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, collaborative nature, and a friendly can-do attitude.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-availability environment and respond to incidents proactively.
- A strong desire and aptitude for solving problems.
- Ability to logically analyze and solve problems.

Join Vultr, $60,000 - $95,000
Final compensation will vary depending on years of experience, background/skill set, location, and applicable laws.
