Global Manufacturing Electrical & SDV is looking for innovators who thrive in tough challenges and are passionate about tackling meaningful work that will shape the future of the automotive industry. This isn’t a role for those looking for an easy path-it’s for those who embrace change, push through obstacles, and take ownership of complex problems. While there will be long days and moments that test your resilience, you’ll find purpose in your work, flexibility to prioritize your family, and the support of a people-first culture. If you’re ready to grow, thrive, and make a real impact, we’d love to hear from you.

WHY: The purpose of this role is to lead the development and support of manufacturing software solutions that enable vehicle testing, validation, and production execution across GM’s global manufacturing network. By improving software capability, reliability, and scalability, this role directly supports vehicle quality and manufacturing performance.

WHAT: As a Manufacturing Software Engineering Supervisor, you will lead a team of software engineers while remaining actively involved in architecture, technical decision-making, development, and problem solving.

HOW: Partner with manufacturing, engineering, and plant teams to develop, deploy, and support software solutions that improve vehicle quality, production efficiency, and operational reliability across global manufacturing operations.

What You’ll Do (Responsibilities):

  • Build team capability and technical knowledge by strengthening understanding of vehicle subsystems, EOL software, documentation, and shared technical references.
  • Lead technical delivery and strategy for global end-of-line (EOL) software systems by setting direction, assigning deliverables, and driving solutions that support current operations and future manufacturing needs.
  • Ensure disciplined execution through clear operational plans, transparent work management, accurate Jira tracking, and consistent follow-through on commitments.
  • Provide hands-on technical leadership through design reviews, technical decisions, problem solving, and execution support across concept, development, validation, and deployment.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing team by setting expectations, coaching employees, allocating resources, managing performance, and holding the team accountable for quality, timing, and results.
  • Drive cross-functional alignment across Manufacturing, Product Engineering, Software, and plant teams to remove barriers, clarify priorities, and deliver integrated solutions., This role is categorized as onsite. This means the selected candidate is expected to report to a specific location on a full-time basis.

Requirements

  • Understanding of vehicle electrical systems and end-of-line processes , and how software supports manufacturing tooling and plant operations.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead technical teams , set expectations, coach employees, and drive accountability for deliverables, quality, and timelines.
  • Experience in operational planning, resource allocation, and performance management within a technical or manufacturing environment.
  • Strong communication, judgment, and data-driven decision-making skills, with ability to influence across functions and translate business needs into action.

What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):

  • Hands-on software development experience building and modifying production-quality applications, with ability to lead technical work through design, implementation, testing, and delivery.
  • Experience implementing C++ changes in distributed or multi-process systems , including inter-process messaging, configuration, or I/O drivers used at end-of-line.
  • Exposure to diagnostic communications and subsystem interactions (e.g., basic understanding of how test applications talk to controllers at the end of line).
  • Practical experience with integration testing , hardware-in-the-loop or bench testing, and creating test cases that validate software changes against plant requirements.
  • Experience contributing to design discussions (sequence diagrams, interface updates), and proposing small technical improvements under guidance.
  • Familiarity with risk/defect analysis techniques (e.g., identifying failure modes, documenting mitigations) and writing clear, reproducible bug reports .
  • Exposure to manufacturing environments or collaboration with assembly-plant personnel to support deployments, triage issues, and gather feedback.
  • Working knowledge of Jira (or similar) for work tracking and GitHub (or similar) for pull requests, code reviews, and CI signals; willingness to deepen expertise.
  • Experience creating or maintaining internal documentation that captures “how it works,” change notes, and “day-2” support tips for operations team
