About the company

Data Gateway democratizes access to People data by delivering secure, scalable services to builder teams across Amazon. This enables business-critical functionalities and accelerates FPDS’s mission to power Amazon’s growth and People management at scale. Data Gateway powers over 2,000 applications with 270.5 billion API calls in 2025, representing 70% growth year-over-year. Data Gateway serves 5,000+ customers through integrations like Andes datasets and, through Maple, secures 24 million employee records across 160 applications, processing 8.8 billion authorization requests annually. These services power critical employee experiences for Amazon’s 3 million+ workforce worldwide.

Data Gateway encompasses five product areas. Real-Time APIs and Notifications (PAPI, DAAPI, PeopleBus, DomainBus), Integrations (BIF, DIME, Phoenix, Andes Datasets, Employee Data Orchestrator), Data Materialization (DMat), Authorization (Maple and MySupport), and Segmentation (Associate Data Store). This position is for the Authorization team that owns Maple and MySupport product.

Maple is Amazon’s purpose-built authorization service for the PXT ecosystem, answering the question general-purpose access control systems can’t: whether a specific person has permission to access another person’s data. It operates on person-to-person population relationships, securing row-level access to 24.34M employee and alumni records across 160 applications and processing 8.8B authorization requests annually.
