Job description
The Security Systems Project Manager oversees the full lifecycle of commercial and enterprise security system projects, including access control, CCTV, intrusion detection, intercom, and related low voltage systems. This role manages project planning, schedules, resources, subcontractors, budgets, documentation, and closeout while ensuring projects meet customer requirements, quality standards, and applicable codes. Strong project management, communication, financial tracking, and organizational skills are essential., * Manage all phases of security system projects, including scoping, pre-construction planning, scheduling, resource allocation, execution, commissioning, and closeout.
- Manage approximately 20-25 projects concurrently while maintaining an organized project backlog of approximately $2-$3 million.
- Coordinate the installation and integration of access control, CCTV/IP video, intrusion detection, intercom, and related low voltage systems.
- Develop and maintain project schedules, scopes of work, installation plans, reports, redlines, as-built documentation, and other required project records.
- Collaborate with engineering and design teams to ensure drawings, submittals, and system requirements align with project specifications and customer expectations.
- Coordinate internal field personnel and subcontractors to support safe, timely, and high-quality project execution.
- Lead project meetings, communicate project status, track milestones, identify risks, and manage change orders.
- Monitor project financial performance, including budgets, labor forecasting, material usage, billing schedules, and other project-related financial data.
- Maintain accurate project information across contract documents, financial records, project management systems, and reporting tools.
- Coordinate material procurement and ensure required equipment and resources are available according to project schedules.
- Oversee system programming, commissioning, testing, final turnover, customer training, and delivery of closeout documentation.
- Ensure installations comply with manufacturer requirements, project specifications, applicable codes, and industry standards, including NEC, NFPA, UL, and local authority requirements.
- Perform on-site project inspections and audits to verify quality, progress, documentation, and compliance.
- Maintain consistent communication with clients and internal stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
- Identify and resolve project issues involving schedules, resources, materials, subcontractors, financial performance, or technical requirements.
- Identify opportunities for additional security solutions and services when appropriate.
- Support continuous improvement of project management processes, documentation, and overall project delivery.
Requirements
- 5-10 years of experience managing security systems integration, low voltage, commercial construction, or comparable project environments.
- Demonstrated experience managing the complete project lifecycle, including planning, scheduling, execution, financial tracking, documentation, and closeout.
- Experience managing multiple concurrent projects, preferably within commercial, industrial, government, or new construction environments.
- Experience managing project financials, including budgets, labor forecasting, material usage, reporting, and billing coordination.
- Strong technical understanding of security systems, including access control panels, card readers, locking hardware, CCTV/IP video systems, network video recorders (NVRs), video management systems (VMS), intrusion detection, and intercom systems.
- Familiarity with commonly used security system platforms and manufacturers.
- Experience reading and interpreting construction drawings, wiring diagrams, riser diagrams, scopes of work, and related project documentation.
- Experience using project management or ERP systems to manage schedules, financials, labor, materials, and documentation.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Experience with Microsoft Project, Smartsheet, or comparable project management tools preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with customers, technicians, subcontractors, management, and other stakeholders.
- Strong leadership, organization, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and multiple projects while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively across multiple departments.
- Knowledge of applicable security, life safety, electrical, and low voltage codes and standards.
- Experience working with a subcontractor-based project delivery model preferred.
- PMP certification or equivalent project management certification preferred.
- Low voltage or industry certifications, including NICET, ESA, or relevant manufacturer certifications, preferred.
- Ability to work safely on active construction sites and conduct on-site project inspections.

- Position type: Direct hire.
- Work arrangement is primarily remote with regular travel to project locations.
- Typical start time is approximately 8:00 a.m.
- Work schedule may range from approximately 45-55 hours per week depending on project demands.
- Regular in-state travel is required to support project locations.
