Job description

Job Overview: The SAP Basis Administrator plays a critical role in delivering consistent high-performance SAP systems and applications to support business operation. The SAP Basis Administrator is responsible for architecting SAP technical solutions, implement and support SAP applications and Infrastructure, monitor the systems performance and utilization. Because the SAP Basis Administrator is involved with multiple business functional groups (Sales, HR, Finance, etc.), he/she will not only know how to manage multiple projects, but will also be a key player in day-to-day systems operations in support of all business areas.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • System Installation and Configuration:

  • Install and configure SAP systems, including SAP ECC, SAP S/4HANA, SAP BW/BI, SAP GRC, Solution Manager etc., based on business requirements and best practices.

  • Perform system upgrades, patches, and installations of SAP software components.

  • System Administration:

  • Perform routine system administration tasks such as client copy, system copy, client export/import, and system refresh.

  • Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and optimize system resources to ensure high availability and performance.

  • Transport Management:

  • Configure and manage the SAP Transport Management System (TMS) for transporting changes between SAP systems.

  • Monitor and troubleshoot transport-related issues.

  • Integration and Interface Management:

  • Configure and manage interfaces and integration between SAP and non-SAP systems.

  • Monitor and troubleshoot interface related issues.

  • Performance Tuning:

  • Analyze system performance metrics, identify bottlenecks, and implement performance tuning measures to optimize system performance.

  • Documentation and Compliance:

  • Maintain accurate documentation of SAP system configurations, procedures, and standards.

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies (SOX, PCI, Corporate, etc.)., Within the Smith & Wesson manufacturing facility, employees may be exposed to manufacturing noise, airborne liquid chemicals, fine particulate dust, ambient temperatures, and industrial lighting. Work environment is similar to most manufacturing operations. May be exposed to excessive noise, temperatures, hazards associated with working around moving machinery, work in confined quarters, exposure to vibrations and shop lighting, continuous exposure to hot temperatures, may be humid, odors, dust, continuous exposure to mechanical hazards, and occasional exposure to chemical hazards.

The following Personal Protective Equipment is required:

  • Safety glasses with side shields and hearing protection required when on manufacturing floor

  • The use of additional personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required when a job task(s) is being completed in or around your assigned department or in another department, this includes safety eyewear, hearing protection, and safety footwear.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.

  • Proven experience as an SAP BASIS Administrator or in a similar role with 3+ years of experience in a medium to large size organization.

  • In-depth knowledge of SAP technologies, architecture, and components.

  • Proven proficiency in SAP installation, configuration, and administration.

  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • SAP certifications are a plus.

  • Participate in on-call rotation to ensure 24/7 operations of critical systems.

  • Desire to always improve on processes by implementing automation whenever possible.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Willingness to stay updated with the latest SAP technologies and trends.

  • Flexibility to work outside regular business hours for system maintenance and support activities.

  • Strong commitment to maintaining system security and data integrity.

  • Must have excellent command of the English language, in both verbal and written communications.

Physical Demands:

  • Works in an office environment.

  • Able to sit and work at a computer keyboard for extended periods of time.

  • Able to lift and move up to 25 pounds occasionally.
