Job description

The Virginia Information Technology Agency (ELECT) is seeking an experienced Senior Azure Cloud Developer to design, develop, enhance, and maintain enterprise web and Windows applications supporting both internal agency operations and constituents of the Commonwealth of Virginia. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in Microsoft Azure cloud services, modern .NET development, JavaScript frameworks, microservices architecture, and cloud-native application design while providing technical leadership on complex development initiatives., * Design, develop, and maintain enterprise cloud-native web and Windows applications.

  • Develop scalable applications using Azure Cloud Services and modern .NET technologies.
  • Build and maintain RESTful APIs and microservices architectures.
  • Develop responsive front-end applications using React, Angular, or Vue.
  • Implement secure authentication and authorization using Azure AD, OAuth2, and OpenID Connect.
  • Integrate applications with Azure services including Azure SQL, Cosmos DB, Azure Storage, Event Grid, Service Bus, and Event Hubs.
  • Develop optimized SQL queries and database solutions for SQL Server and NoSQL platforms.
  • Collaborate with Business Analysts, Application Architects, QA, DevOps, and Security teams.
  • Participate in application maintenance, enhancements, modernization, and new feature development.
  • Design and implement CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions.
  • Apply Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform, ARM Templates, or Bicep.
  • Lead technical discussions, mentor developers, and contribute to architectural decisions.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience developing enterprise cloud applications.
  • Strong experience with Microsoft Azure, including:
  • Azure App Services
  • Azure Functions
  • Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS)
  • Azure Storage (Blob, Queue, Table)
  • Azure SQL & Cosmos DB
  • Experience with Azure API Management, Azure DevOps (Repos, Pipelines, Boards), Azure AD, OAuth2, and OpenID Connect.
  • Strong proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript and modern frameworks such as React, Angular, or Vue.
  • Experience with Redux, MobX, NgRx, or similar state management libraries.
  • Strong experience with HTML5, CSS3, responsive UI development, REST APIs, and GraphQL.
  • Expertise in .NET Core / .NET 7+ or Node.js development.
  • Experience designing scalable REST APIs and Microservices architectures.
  • Experience with Azure Event Grid, Service Bus, Event Hubs, and ORM technologies such as Entity Framework, Sequelize, or Prisma.
  • Strong SQL Server development, query optimization, and Cosmos DB experience.
  • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes (AKS), and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, ARM, or Bicep).
  • Experience implementing automated testing frameworks and test strategies.
  • Strong understanding of Distributed Systems, Domain-Driven Design (DDD), SOLID principles, Clean Architecture, Swagger/OpenAPI, and security best practices (OWASP, Zero Trust).
  • Excellent communication, leadership, mentoring, and Agile planning skills.
