Job description

  • Own the strategy, design, implementation, and commissioning of automated manufacturing production lines applying the appropriate technology to complex and new products
  • Use strong electrical and mechanical machine design skills, and develop technical requirements and specifications for outside vendors to bid and construct custom machines and inter-dependent automation systems
  • Lead vendor selection and facilitate the implementation of new automation systems and manufacturing methods
  • Lead, drive and scale automation projects across multiple sites globally
  • Research new manufacturing methods and trends to bring innovation and new technology into nVent manufacturing including vision systems and machine learning technology.
  • Participate on multi-functional teams and engage global leaders in the company to ensure the design for manufacturability of our current and future products
  • Continuously improve our factory automation systems and optimize them for safety, quality and efficiency including use of data analytics.
  • Assure the quality of manufactured goods through the implementation of in-process inspections and meticulous statistical process controls.
  • Lead pilot automation projects that turn into company standards and preferred supplier selections.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Industrial Technology, or other related technical degree required.
  • 12+ years of experience developing factory automation systems and experience working globally to scale them across a growing enterprise is preferred.
  • Experience leading or mentoring people preferred. Role will start as individual contributor but has potential for growth and will require strong influencing of others.
  • Experience developing multi-year, multi-site and/or significant growth strategies.
  • Ability to think differently about processes, influence, push the envelope, and benchmark what great looks like.
  • Experience educating non-technical leaders on what is possible through automated solutions.
  • Hands-on experience developing custom automated solutions and/or robotic systems (ABB or Fanuc preferred).
  • Familiarity with control systems, PLC’s (Siemens or Allen Bradley preferred) and control components., ABB (Asea Brown Boveri), Allen-Bradley, Assembly Line, Automation, Automation Engineering, Automation System Development, Automation Systems, Benchmarking, Commissioning, Computer Security, Continuous Improvement, Control Systems, Cross-Functional, Customer Relations, Data Analysis, Diversity, Electricity, Leadership, Machine Learning, Manufacturing, Manufacturing Automation, Manufacturing Design, Manufacturing Methods, Manufacturing Systems, Manufacturing/Industrial Processes, Mechanical Design, Mentoring, Non-Profit Funding, Process Capability, Process Improvement, Programmable Logic Controller (PLC), Requirements Management, Safety/Work Safety, Staff Requirements, Statistical Process Control, Stock Purchase Plans, Trend Analysis, Vendor/Supplier Selection

Benefits & conditions

nVent’s pay scale is based on the expected range of base pay for this job and the employee’s work location. Employee pay within this range will be based on a combination of factors including knowledge, skills, abilities, experience, education, and performance. Where federal, state, or local minimum wage requirements exist, employee pay will comply.

Compensation Range:

$105,000.00 - $195,000.00

Depending on the position offered, employee may be eligible for other forms of compensation, such as annual incentives.
