Job description

DMF Lighting is seeking an experienced Firmware Engineer to lead embedded firmware and IoT development efforts. In this role, you will be hands-on, taking responsibility for all aspects of the firmware development process including architecting, coding, debugging as well as building and managing a team. This role offers an exceptional opportunity for a talented and motivated individual looking to make their mark within the booming LED Lighting and IoT space., * Lead the design and development of embedded firmware for networked lighting systems for the residential and commercial marketplace.

  • Be hands on in the entire application development lifecycle focusing on defining, coding, testing, debugging, and supporting various features.
  • Research and evaluate new technologies and identify opportunities capitalize on them.
  • Debug and fix hardware/software issues in MCU based systems
  • Work with other discipline leads to create clear engineering specifications and documentation.
  • Scale up development capabilities using third-party consultants and overseas resources.
  • Build the internal infrastructure and processes to support firmware development, validation and sustaining efforts as our product portfolio grows.
  • Manage and mentor other firmware engineering resources
  • Follow and refine the company product development process, conduct design reviews and interface with other engineers and departments.

Requirements

  • Excellent C/C++ programming skills with experience in MCUs and embedded system design and development.
  • Extensive experience in debugging embedded systems and microcontroller peripherals including I2C, SPI, UART, ADC and DAC. Must be able to debug issues using logic analyzers and oscilloscopes
  • Solid Understanding of ARM Cortex M0/M3/M4, STM32, and NXP LPC82x Series ARM microcontrollers and ability to configure boot loaders, SW interfaces etc.
  • Desirable to have experience with wireless communication techniques and associated protocols such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, BLE Mesh, LoRaWAN, WiFi etc.
  • Knowledge of networking connectivity protocols such as TCP/IP, SSL, HTTP, MQTT, etc.
  • Experience with JIRA or other issue tracking software
  • Excellent documentation and communication skills
  • 5+ years of industry experience with technical leadership
  • Demonstrated ability to drive projects by facilitating teamwork, establishing goals, and driving decisions., * BS or MS Degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering with 5+ years working as an Embedded Firmware/Software Engineer.
