Job description

Walker Engineering is looking for an experienced Structured Cabling/Technology Systems Estimator to join our growing team. This role is ideal for a seasoned professional with a strong background in mission-critical environments, data centers, and structured cabling design who enjoys collaborating with sales, operations, and clients to deliver accurate, competitive estimates.

What You’ll Do

  • Develop detailed labor and material estimates for structured cabling and technology systems.
  • Review RFPs, specifications, drawings, and prepare RFIs as needed.
  • Perform quantity takeoffs and build accurate project cost models.
  • Work closely with sales teams, clients, manufacturers, and distributors to develop winning proposals.
  • Design structured cabling systems when required.
  • Prepare scopes of work, submittals, change orders, and turnover documentation.
  • Conduct site surveys and identify scope gaps to ensure complete, operational systems.
  • Support project teams throughout the preconstruction process.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of estimating and/or design experience in structured cabling.
  • RCDD certification required.
  • Strong knowledge of BICSI and TIA/EIA standards.
  • Experience estimating projects ranging from $1M-$5M+.
  • Proven experience with: *

  • Hyperscale, Colocation, Enterprise & Mission Critical Data Centers
  • Healthcare facilities
  • Commercial office buildings
  • Manufacturing facilities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Strong communication, organization, and attention to detail.
  • Manufacturer certifications (CommScope, Panduit, etc.) and additional BICSI certifications are a plus.
  • Audio/Visual, Security Systems, and field installation experience are highly desirable.

Position Details

  • Full-time
  • Monday-Friday 8:00 AM-5:00 PM
  • Travel: Less than 10%
