Job description

We are looking for a Lab Technical Support Engineer for our client’s physics and semiconductor laboratory in Delft. You get to work with cutting edge technology in a highly dynamic environment of scientists, researchers and engineers trying to push the boundaries of Quantum computing.

In this role, you will support day-to-day lab and hardware operations, including cryogenic setups, sensitive device handling, basic maintenance, and measurement troubleshooting.

Responsibility:

  • Upgrades/troubleshooting of measurement stations (cryostat + instruments rack)
  • Loading/unloading ESD very sensitive devices in cryogenic systems
  • Run preliminary health checks on the loaded devices
  • Troubleshooting RF/DC measurement setups
  • Basic routine tasks on cryogenic systems (e.g. topping-up liquid N2 traps or provide support during maintenance operations)
  • Writing of python scripts for measurements
  • Checking lab inventory
  • Assisting with the shipment of goods
  • Prepare documentation for hardware assembling instructions
  • Occasionally the successful candidate will be asked to perform basic packaging tasks and quality control in the cleanroom
  • Continuously improve the service quality and efficiency

Requirements

The ideal candidate would be a recent graduate with a master’s degree in experimental science (physics, electrical engineering, microelectronics etc.) with hands on experience with measurement instruments such as (and/or):

  • VNA
  • Spectrum analyzer
  • Lock-in amplifier
  • Cryogenic systems
  • Experience with working in a laboratory environment
  • Proficiency in python programming
  • Good organizational skills and capable of working on multiple projects in parallel
  • Strong attention to details
  • Be a good team player

Valuable additional skills:

  • Familiar with CAD software such as Solidworks or Autodesk Inventor
  • Familiar with FEM such as Comsol Multiphysics
