Cyber Security Operational Lead Consultant

As a senior customer-facing leader, you will act as the on-site face of Maple Networks’ Cyber Security practice, building trusted relationships with customer stakeholders and becoming an extension of their security leadership team. You will work closely with customers to support their security strategy, participate in regular governance and operational cadence meetings, and provide practical, business-focused cyber security guidance that drives measurable improvements., Cyber Security Leadership

• Develop and enhance Maple Networks’ Cyber Security service portfolio.
• Champion security best practices internally and across customer engagements to ensure consistent quality and compliance.
• Act as the senior technical advisor for customers throughout the engagement lifecycle.
• Design cyber security strategies aligned to customer business objectives and risk appetite.
• Conduct cyber security assessments, risk reviews, security maturity assessments and gap analyses.
• Ensure all technical activities and customer engagements align with and support Maple Networks’ Information Security Management System (ISMS), maintaining compliance with ISO 27001, Cyber Essentials (CE) and CREST standards where applicable.
• Contribute to maintaining and continuously improving Maple Networks’ ISO 27001 certification, Cyber Essentials accreditation and CREST-aligned service delivery standards.
• Support the development of new security services, methodologies and best practices.

Pre-Sales Engineering

• Partner with the Sales team during customer engagements and new business opportunities.
• Lead technical discovery workshops and customer requirement gathering.
• Design tailored cyber security solutions and service proposals.
• Produce Statements of Work (SOWs), solution designs, technical documentation and customer presentations.
• Respond to RFPs, RFIs and security questionnaires.
• Deliver technical demonstrations, workshops and executive briefings.
• Present security recommendations that clearly explain business risk, commercial value and implementation priorities.
• Support pricing, effort estimation and project scoping.

Customer Advisory

• Develop long-term trusted relationships with customer executives, technology leaders and business stakeholders.
• Participate in regular customer operational and security cadence meetings, providing updates, strategic recommendations and ongoing advisory support.
• Act as the trusted on-site Cyber Security advisor for assigned customers, representing Maple Networks during governance meetings, executive briefings and strategic planning sessions.
• Translate complex cyber security risks into clear business language, enabling informed decision-making and prioritised action plans.
• Provide practical, commercially focused recommendations that balance risk, business objectives and budget considerations.
• Help customers develop security roadmaps aligned with business objectives and budgets.

Leadership & Collaboration

• Mentor technical consultants and penetration testers.
• Promote and help embed a strong cyber security culture within both Maple Networks and customer organisations by encouraging security awareness, accountability and best practice at all levels of the business.
• Work closely with Delivery teams to ensure successful project outcomes.
• Represent Maple Networks during customer meetings, industry events and strategic engagements.
• Stay current with emerging cyber threats, technologies and security trends.

The ideal candidate combines deep technical cyber security expertise with outstanding communication and consulting skills. They are equally comfortable engaging with executive leadership as they are with technical teams, translating complex security concepts into practical business outcomes. They have experience working across multiple industries, including highly regulated sectors, and have successfully helped organisations strengthen their cyber security posture, governance and security culture.

A key aspect of this role is the ability to translate complex cyber security concepts into clear business risks, practical recommendations, and actionable roadmaps for both technical and non-technical stakeholders., * Bachelor’s degree in Cyber Security, Computer Science, Information Technology or equivalent experience.

• 7+ years’ experience within Cyber Security, including consulting, advisory, architecture or technical leadership roles.
• 3+ years in a customer-facing technical leadership or Pre-Sales Engineering role.
• Demonstrated experience working across multiple industry sectors, including highly regulated environments such as Financial Services, Government, Healthcare, Utilities, Telecommunications or Critical National Infrastructure.

• Experience acting as a trusted Cyber Security advisor to executive and senior business stakeholders.
• Proven ability to build and foster a positive Cyber Security culture within organisations through awareness, leadership, coaching and strategic engagement.
• Experience delivering Cyber Security governance, maturity assessments and strategic roadmaps.
• Experience facilitating executive workshops and communicating with both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Ability to influence stakeholders and drive security initiatives across complex organisations.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Outstanding presentation and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to simplify complex technical concepts into meaningful business outcomes and actionable recommendations.
• Commercial awareness with the ability to align technical solutions to customer objectives.

Desirable

• CISSP, CISM, CCSP, CEH, SABSA, TOGAF or equivalent certifications.
• Experience within a Cyber Security MSP.
• Experience supporting public and private sector customers.
• Knowledge of ISO 27001, NIST CSF, Cyber Essentials, DORA and CIS Controls.
• Experience with Microsoft Security technologies and cloud platforms including Azure and AWS.
• Previous experience supporting technical sales, bid management or solution architecture.
