Job description

Woodward Management operates across approximately 25 locations in West Virginia, spanning multiple companies and business units. We’re looking for a detail-oriented, analytical professional to build smarter, automated workflows across our operations and help keep a close eye on our day-to-day financial data. This is a newly created position for someone who loves building better ways to work -someone who sees a repetitive spreadsheet task and immediately starts thinking about how to automate it. You’ll partner directly with leadership to design Excel-based tools and automations that save time across the company, while also keeping tabs on daily deposits and other recurring financial checks to help ensure everything reconciles cleanly.

What You’ll Do

  • Design, build, and maintain advanced Excel workflows (formulas, macros/VBA, Power Query, templates) that automate repetitive tasks and reduce manual work across the company
  • Build connections and automated data flows between Excel and other platforms and systems, cutting down on manual data entry and re-keying
  • Review and check daily deposits across locations, flagging discrepancies for follow-up
  • Analyze recurring financial and operational data to spot trends, errors, or opportunities for improvement
  • Create PDF documents and fillable PDF forms to support internal processes and paperwork across the company
  • Identify inefficient manual processes anywhere in the company and propose/build automated solutions to fix them
  • Explore and apply AI tools (e.g., Claude, Copilot, or similar) to further streamline workflows and reporting - training and support will be provided, but curiosity and a willingness to learn are a must
  • Document workflows and train other team members on new tools and processes as they’re rolled out
  • Work directly with ownership/management to prioritize projects with the greatest efficiency impact across the company

Requirements

  • 2-5 years of relevant experience, with advanced hands-on Excel work and data analysis as a core part of that background
  • Advanced Excel skills required: complex formulas, pivot tables, macros/VBA, and/or Power Query; experience building tools that others in an office can actually use
  • Comfort working with daily financial data (deposits, reconciliations) and an eye for catching discrepancies
  • QuickBooks experience is a plus, but not a necessity
  • Comfort with - or strong interest in - using AI tools to improve workflows and reporting
  • Strong organizational skills and comfort managing tasks/data across multiple business entities and locations
  • Self-starter who can identify problems and build solutions with minimal oversight
  • Discretion with sensitive company data, * Have you built Excel automation that reduced manual work?
  • Have you used AI tools as part of your daily work?

Benefits & conditions

  • Flexible schedule
  • Paid time off
  • Work from home

About the company

You’ll have real ownership over how our back-office runs - this isn’t a role where you’re handed a rigid process and told to follow it. If you enjoy solving problems, building smarter systems, and want to grow your skills with AI-powered tools alongside a company that’s actively investing in automation, this is a great fit.
