Job description
BrainDo is expanding our data and analytics practice and needs an experienced Snowflake specialist to guide and lead migrations. The focus is on architecture, migration planning, and hands-on implementation support for client projects., * Design and review Snowflake environments (accounts, databases, schemas, warehouses, RBAC).
- Lead or advise on data warehouse migrations into Snowflake (especially from SQL Server or similar systems).
- Define migration phases: assessment, design, extraction/loading, validation, and cutover.
- Build or review ELT pipelines into Snowflake (staging, copy, merge, incremental loads).
- Advise on cost and performance tuning (warehouse sizing, query patterns, clustering, caching).
- Collaborate with BrainDo’s analytics and business teams to align data structures with reporting and self-service needs.
- Provide architecture and code reviews, and occasional hands-on implementation support, during active client engagements., * Fractional / contract role - remote.
- Initial engagement focused on architecture review and migration planning for one client, with option to extend into ongoing implementation support.
- Expected cadence: 5-20 hours per week during active phases; flexible based on project demand.
Requirements
- 3+ years working directly with Snowflake as a core data warehouse platform.
- 2+ end-to-end Snowflake implementation or migration projects (design through production cutover).
- Strong SQL and data modeling skills; comfortable with star/snowflake schemas and analytics-friendly design.
- Experience with role-based access control, security, and governance in Snowflake.
- Practical understanding of Snowflake cost drivers and performance optimization.
- Comfort partnering with a consultancy: we own the client relationship and business context; you own deep Snowflake execution and architectural guidance.
Nice to have (not required):
- Experience with dbt, Fivetran/other ELT tools, and modern BI tools (e.g., Sigma, Power BI, Tableau).
- Exposure to AI/LLM use cases on top of Snowflake (Cortex, semantic layers, etc.).
