Job description

This full-time position is primarily responsible for the support, deployment, maintenance, security and overall health of the personal computer systems and related peripheral equipment at the Dennis Kirk offices in Rush City and Forest Lake, MN. The ideal candidate will have a blend of technical and customer-service skills, and should have a passion for technology and helping people. Duties will include help desk support, software and hardware installations, VOIP phone support, printer setup, network server file share connections, tape backups. This position will report to the Director of Technology and take daily work direction from the Senior Network Administrator.

Job Requirements

  • Provide help desk support on computers, networks, and 8x8 phone system; resolve problems to end user via email, phone, or in-person visits.
  • Monitor the Help Desk tickets in Spiceworks and attend to them based on priority
  • Able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, appropriate for the needs of the audience
  • Direct unresolved issues to the next level of support personnel
  • Manage PC & Mac setup and deployment for new employees using standard hardware and software, including Windows, Microsoft Office and anti-virus software.
  • Support and troubleshoot client PC and printer connectivity - Ethernet, WiFi, TCP/IP, DNS, and VPN trouble shooting.
  • Perform timely workstation hardware and software upgrades, backups, cleaning as required.
  • Create and maintain user accounts, regulating and monitoring system access to ensure the security, integrity and confidentiality of information, processes and systems
  • Ensure the integrity and security of all business applications and data by following strict industry and security requirements.
  • Manage and monitor internal assets, maintaining accurate inventory records
  • Log events, problems, and resolutions in the logs and ticketing system and document standard operating procedures.
  • Pass-on any feedback and suggestions from staff to the appropriate internal team
  • Assist with after-hours installations and maintenance of computers, networks, SAN components, and warehouse control systems
  • Help repair/run physical network cables and related components as needed

Requirements

  • Strong customer service and technical troubleshooting skills
  • Experience in a help desk support and/or network-support type role.
  • Degree or Certificate in Information Systems, Networking or related field a plus.
  • Effective communication skills with ability to communicate technical information, both verbal and written, to a wide range of end-users.
  • Pro-active and self-motivated mindset; trustworthy with strong personal integrity and work ethic.
  • A team-player with a positive “can-do” attitude with ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to take work direction, make good notes, and be resourceful in solving problems
