Job description

We are looking for a IT Technician for an immediate start. This is a very dynamic and fast-paced environment located in Durham, NC. The candidate is expected to multi-task, communicate effectively, and possess a strong work ethic. The position will be contract driven and compensation will be hourly-based and very competitive.

This individual will help ensure proper computer system operation so that end users can accomplish business tasks. This includes receiving, prioritizing, documenting, and actively resolving end user help requests. Problem resolution may involve the use of diagnostic and help request tracking tools, as well as require that the individual give in-person, hands-on help at the desktop level.

Ideally, candidates would be familiar with scientific systems, data security, and networking to assist with the aspects related to the installation, security, maintenance, and troubleshooting of systems used to support pharmaceutical testing and/or manufacturing.

Essential Functions

  • Field incoming help requests from end users via help tickets, phone, and/or e-mail in a courteous manner.
  • Provisioning and system setup for new hires.
  • Build rapport with end users and document issue details utilizing the help desk.
  • Prioritize and schedule fixes to problems. Triage and escalate problems when required.
  • Record, track, and document the problem-solving process within the help desk request. This includes all decisions and actions taken throughout the resolution process with any applicable details to be referenced at a later time.
  • Administer and maintain end user accounts, permissions, and access rights for various systems across the organization.
  • Apply diagnostic utilities to aid in troubleshooting PCs and software systems.
  • Identify and learn appropriate software and hardware used and supported by the company.
  • Perform hands-on fixes at the desktop level, including installing and upgrading software, installing hardware, implementing file backups, and facilitating configuration changes for systems and applications.
  • Perform preventative maintenance, including checking and cleaning of workstations, printers, and peripherals, periodic archival of data, hardware evaluation, etc.
  • Test and implement fixes to ensure issues are adequately resolved.

Requirements

  • Associates or Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • 2+ years of relevant work experience.

Desired Competencies:

  • Work with team members to conceptualize and implement technical solutions to challenges related to systems, including, Networking and Remote Access, Data Security / Data Integrity and PC Hardware and Applications
  • Troubleshoot Computer Systems
  • Assist in Computer System Account Administration

Pay: $30.00 - $40.00 per hour
