Job description

We are seeking an experienced ADABAS Database Administrator (DBA) to join our client’s team in Tallahassee, Florida., We are seeking an experienced ADABAS Database Administrator (DBA) to join our client’s team in Tallahassee, Florida. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience administering ADABAS databases in a mainframe environment, managing database performance, backup and recovery, and supporting mission-critical production systems., * Administer, monitor, and maintain ADABAS databases in production and non-production environments.

  • Perform database installation, configuration, upgrades, tuning, backup, recovery, and troubleshooting.
  • Monitor database performance and implement optimization strategies.
  • Ensure database availability, integrity, security, and reliability.
  • Support disaster recovery planning and database restoration activities.
  • Collaborate with developers, system administrators, and infrastructure teams to support business applications.
  • Maintain database documentation, standards, and operational procedures.
  • Assist with capacity planning and database resource management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience working with various Database Management Systems (DBMS) in database design, testing, implementation, maintenance, and administration across multiple platform environments.
  • Experience managing and maintaining both production and non-production databases.
  • Hands-on experience performing database backup and recovery procedures.
  • Experience configuring database parameters and developing prototype designs based on logical data models.
  • Experience defining data repository requirements, data dictionaries, and data warehousing requirements.
  • Experience optimizing database access and allocating/reallocating database resources to maximize performance, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Proven experience as an ADABAS Database Administrator (DBA) with Software AG products in a mainframe environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with IBM DB2.
  • Ability to work onsite in Tallahassee, Florida.
