Job description
We are hiring an Associate Power Platform Developer to work closely with our Senior Solution Architect and help expand our product-development capacity.
This position is intended for an early-career or developing technical professional who already has practical Microsoft Power Platform experience and wants to grow by contributing to real product-development work under the guidance of an experienced architect.
ForgeXRM is embracing AI throughout product development and business operations. The successful candidate will be curious about emerging AI capabilities, willing to experiment, and motivated to learn how AI can improve development speed, quality, testing, troubleshooting, documentation, and product innovation.
The Role
You will work directly with our Senior Solution Architect on product development, customer enhancements, testing, issue investigation, releases, and technical documentation.
Initially, assignments will be clearly defined and appropriately scoped. As your technical ability, product knowledge, judgment, and AI fluency develop, you will take ownership of increasingly complex responsibilities.
This is not a classroom-style apprenticeship or an observation-only role. You will be expected to learn quickly, contribute meaningful work, accept technical feedback, experiment thoughtfully, and consistently move assigned work through completion.
The goal is to create development leverage: routine and appropriately scoped work should be completed at the associate level so senior technical resources can remain focused on architecture, complex engineering, and strategic product initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Power Platform Development
- Build and configure Microsoft Power Apps solutions.
- Create and update Dataverse tables, columns, relationships, forms, views, business rules, and application components.
- Assist with model-driven app development and configuration.
- Complete clearly defined product enhancements and customer-requested changes.
- Investigate and correct defects under the direction of the Senior Solution Architect.
- Follow ForgeXRM development standards, solution architecture, naming conventions, and deployment practices.
- Use managed solutions and appropriate application-lifecycle-management processes.
- Build solutions that are maintainable, supportable, and aligned with established product architecture.
Product Development Support
- Contribute to BenefitsBridge, the ForgeXRM Data Grid, and other ForgeXRM applications.
- Assist with product configuration, testing, documentation, and release preparation.
- Implement smaller product enhancements and development assignments delegated by senior technical leadership.
- Reproduce product issues and document the steps, environment, expected behavior, and actual behavior.
- Assist with evaluating technical options and documenting implementation decisions.
- Learn ForgeXRM product architecture, reusable patterns, development methodology, and quality standards.
- Help maintain momentum across active development initiatives by completing delegated work consistently and on schedule.
Testing and Quality Assurance
- Create and execute functional test scenarios.
- Perform regression testing before releases.
- Validate that completed work meets documented requirements.
- Test changes across relevant applications, environments, security roles, and user scenarios.
- Document defects clearly and verify that corrections resolve the underlying issue.
- Help maintain release, deployment, and validation checklists.
- Take responsibility for the quality of assigned work rather than relying solely on senior review to identify basic issues.
- Use AI-assisted techniques where appropriate to expand test coverage, identify edge cases, and improve documentation while independently validating the results.
- Deliver standardized introductory demonstrations of ForgeXRM software solutions.
- Use established demonstration environments, scripts, product information, and common use cases.
- Explain core capabilities and business value in clear, customer-friendly language.
- Answer frequently asked functional questions using approved information and resources.
- Tailor the emphasis of an introductory demonstration to the prospectâs stated needs while remaining within the defined demo scope.
- Recognize when a conversation requires advanced technical, architectural, product, or commercial involvement.
- Coordinate follow-up with the appropriate ForgeXRM resource.
- Capture prospect questions and feedback to improve future demonstrations, documentation, and product materials.
Technical Documentation
- Document application configurations, development decisions, deployment steps, and support considerations.
- Maintain useful technical notes that allow another developer to understand and support completed work.
- Update internal knowledge resources as applications and processes evolve.
- Translate technical implementation details into clear documentation for internal or customer-facing use when appropriate.
- Use approved AI tools to accelerate documentation while ensuring that the final content is technically accurate and complete.
AI-Assisted Development, Learning and Experimentation
- Embrace AI as a core part of modern software development and ForgeXRMâs ongoing evolution.
- Use GitHub Copilot and other approved AI development tools to improve coding, configuration, troubleshooting, testing, documentation, research, and learning.
- Validate AI-generated recommendations and code rather than accepting them without technical review.
- Develop an understanding of where AI accelerates development and where human judgment, security awareness, and architectural discipline remain essential.
- Regularly experiment with emerging AI capabilities relevant to Microsoft business applications and software development.
- Build small prototypes or proofs of concept to evaluate promising AI-enabled ideas.
- Share useful findings, reusable prompts, technical patterns, and practical lessons with the development team.
- Stay current with Microsoftâs evolving AI, Power Platform, Dynamics 365, Dataverse, developer-tooling, and application-development capabilities.
- Use AI to improve productivity without compromising solution quality, security, maintainability, or customer trust.
- Demonstrate ongoing learning through practical application, not simply awareness of new tools.
- Contribute ideas for incorporating AI into ForgeXRM products, internal processes, and customer experiences.
Collaboration and Accountability
- Participate in regular planning, development-review, and technical working sessions.
- Ask focused questions early when requirements or technical direction are unclear.
- Provide accurate progress updates and communicate risks before deadlines are affected.
- Receive technical feedback professionally and incorporate it into future work.
- Follow assignments through development, testing, documentation, and closure.
- Maintain visible work status in the agreed-upon project-management system.
- Demonstrate urgency, consistency, and dependable follow-through.
- Prepare work so senior technical review is focused on architecture and advanced considerations rather than preventable omissions.
What Success Looks Like
Within the first six months, the successful candidate will:
- Consistently complete clearly defined Power Platform assignments.
- Demonstrate practical competence with Power Apps and Dataverse.
- Require progressively less direction for routine development work.
- Produce work that is tested, documented, and ready for senior review.
- Reproduce and investigate product issues effectively.
- Take ownership of smaller enhancements, defects, and release-support activities.
- Demonstrate sound judgment about when to proceed independently and when to escalate.
- Increase the development capacity of the Senior Solution Architect rather than creating additional administrative overhead.
- Use AI tools thoughtfully to improve productivity, learning, troubleshooting, testing, and documentation.
- Demonstrate ongoing AI learning and experimentation through practical contributions.
- Bring forward useful ideas about how AI can improve ForgeXRM products and development processes.
- Build trust through reliable execution, learning speed, quality, curiosity, and follow-through.
Requirements
- At least one year of hands-on experience developing or configuring Microsoft Power Platform solutions.
- Practical experience with Power Apps and Dataverse.
- Understanding of relational data, application logic, security roles, and business-process requirements.
- Experience building or supporting model-driven applications.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to understand technical requirements and translate them into working application components.
- Experience testing and documenting software changes.
- Ability to work independently on clearly scoped assignments.
- Willingness to receive direct technical feedback and continuously improve.
- Strong written communication and documentation skills.
- Experience using AI-assisted tools for development, technical learning, research, documentation, or troubleshooting-or a demonstrated commitment to developing these skills.
- Genuine curiosity about AI and willingness to continually experiment with new capabilities.
Equivalent project, internship, freelance, or portfolio experience may be considered when it demonstrates meaningful hands-on ability.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Customer Engagement applications.
