Job description

As an AI Tutor Application Developer, you will be responsible for developing the core tutoring application that enables natural voice conversations, visual instruction, animated character interactions, and AI-powered educational experiences.

You will work closely with AI engineers, product designers, and hardware engineers to create a seamless learning experience for students.

  • ResponsibilitiesDevelop and maintain Python-based AI tutoring applications running on Raspberry Pi and Linux-based systems.
  • Integrate Large Language Models (LLMs) using Azure OpenAI and other AI services.
  • Build real-time conversational experiences using Speech-to-Text (STT) and Text-to-Speech (TTS) technologies.
  • Design and develop interactive graphical user interfaces using PyQt5 and Qt Graphics Framework.
  • Create dynamic educational visualization tools capable of rendering:
  • Mathematical equations
  • Geometric diagrams
  • Charts and graphs
  • Step-by-step problem-solving illustrations
  • Develop animated virtual tutor characters with emotional states such as:
  • Listening
  • Thinking
  • Teaching
  • Happy
  • Confused
  • Surprised
  • Implement synchronized voice, animation, and visual teaching workflows.
  • Build event-driven application architectures supporting real-time user interactions.
  • Optimize application performance for Raspberry Pi and edge computing hardware.
  • Collaborate with curriculum, AI, and robotics teams to improve tutoring effectiveness.
  • Design reusable software components and maintain clean, modular codebases.
  • Troubleshoot and improve system responsiveness, stability, and user experience.

Requirements

  • Required QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Robotics, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
  • Strong proficiency in Python.
  • Experience building desktop applications using PyQt5 or Qt.
  • Experience integrating APIs and AI services.
  • Understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) principles.
  • Experience with event-driven software architecture.
  • Familiarity with Git and collaborative software development workflows.
  • Strong debugging and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced startup environment.
  • Preferred QualificationsExperience working with Large Language Models (LLMs).
  • Experience with Azure OpenAI Services or similar AI platforms.
  • Experience integrating Speech-to-Text and Text-to-Speech systems.
  • Experience developing educational technology applications.
  • Knowledge of computer graphics, animation, or visualization systems.
  • Experience with Raspberry Pi or embedded Linux systems.
  • Familiarity with asynchronous programming and real-time applications.
  • Understanding of Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) or Human-Robot Interaction (HRI).
  • Experience building interactive tutoring, gaming, or conversational AI products.
